				| Hello Bimota Classic Parts.  Thanks very much for posting pics of the bike.  I am quite fixated on a red, white, carbon example, though the rarity of the colour of the SB6 pictured and the fact that it looks nice in and of itself make it a consideration. 
 There is one small fly in the ointment, in that I have already made an offer to a gentleman in Holland for a R/W/C SB6.  He is yet to respond, but of course I must wait until he does.

 RWC is probably most sought after.  You'll see in my signature I've got a few bikes and have to say the SB6 is one of the easiest to ride.  I've had my YB11 9 years but always wanted an SB6
 
 As Evilchicken said, if valve clearances, clutch slave, front sprocket need doing it's frame off [if you use a frame like mine] or try and drop that boat anchor out the bottom!  Being honest unless the bike is currently ridden then factor in a full strip down and inspection to satisfy your curiosity.  Clutch slave on mine was corroded and leaking.  With the frame I made I removed the frame [11kgs!] from the engine and left the motor on the stand in about 2hrs.
 Thermostats can fail and are very hard to find, Bimota Classic Parts may well have them.  I needed to do clearances on my valves at 4400km.  getting one piece top bodywork off is easy, 10mins tops once you know how, give easy access to tank, carbs, shock.
 rear exhaust mounts fail, front sprocket covers crack as the cut down version by Bimota is shocking!
 It was said back in the day that when you buy a Bimota you should strip it down and reassemble it carefully.  That still applies.
 Mine's great, it lives up to all my expectations
 As for buying from a dealer or not, your just as easily going to buy from a dealer  and have to sort out something underneath, if you buy from Italy are you going to send it back, no probably not.
 I'd buy the one with the best bodywork you can find.  they do crack!  Buy from an enthusiast who knows the bike properly, not just how to change the oil.  Mine came from a deceased estate, registered in 2000, last used 2007.  I bought it through a dealer but I didn't want anyone messing with it, I'd rather go over it myself and sort it my way
 Get yourself a sorted one and you won't regret it

 Chas Mortimer dropped it off at Race Engineering on Tuesday but I couldn't get down until today as I was working away.
 
 I figured it would be best to send it straight to Race Engineering as at one point Simon was PDIing about 3 SB6's a day, back in the day, and I think she will need some TLC from someone who knows what they are doing before I can enjoy.  That and the NOVA process of course.
 
 She came with the Bimota leather keyring, the original cover and factory fitted preload adhusters.  All in all, she's in good nick.  Only 4820 Ks on the clock.

				| Congrats Paul, and yup...pictures essential or else "it never happened"....most of your potential grief is over at least as far as getting it paid, collected and delivered...and you used Chaz Mortimer whos pretty reliable..........Cover and the "prescious" leather key fob....sign of a good seller or one owner bike that he relinquished both of those in the sale....Hopefully your fun and little to no anguish can now begin....Well...once you've got it registered that is...clear that Nova system out of the way as theres an 8Squid per day fine after the first 2 weeks........then insure on frame number though a nice classic insurance company...FJ or PJ....run through an MOT and send off your docs.....should be straight forward enough..and for times when it isnt...look no further than the Forum..... |  |
