Greetings from a Newbie,

Tend to run Elefants, but now added a Bimota.
Any idea/advise on UK Insurance companies ....does the forum have an owners club thingy and does that thingy have a insurance contact?

Many thanks and hope to parlay...so to speak ....with the folk from Bimota forum,

Gavin

Hi Gavin...and Welcome to the Forum....I maybe wrong...but am assuming you bought the DB9 Brivado from DMC Preston?? as there are only 2 of those in the Country that I know of...Congrats...

Theres plenty of threads on here for insurance, and a search facility at the top....With the other bikes you have I would imagine you have a Classics policy for bikes over 15 years old??? If so ask if they do a Combined Classic and New bike policy as Footman James, and James Insurance do these...all you need is a Minimum of 50% of bikes being "classic" status, ie over 15 years old...and the moderns can be anything, any year, any engine size and a reasonable price policy...I've one from Footman James...and to add another bike normally only adds 15-20GBP to the policy...most of which is an Admin charge....the policies are unlimited mileage, unlimited EU use, classics have an excess of 50GBP per bike with the moderns attracting 200GBP....Cant go wrong really

Hhhmmm........Yes and No

Yes, the Db9 from DMC, as in Run-DMC but without the lace-less, taste-less shoes.

No, to the others....a couple are on agreed values and a stupid 600GBP for the elefant with the 999 engine...However ...you pay your money and you get the choice.... or no choice as in the 999 elefant....still... the 888 elefant is only 120GBP from the same company...makes no sense!

I just wanted to get a insight from the forum, as the BIMOTA was not built in my garage and is viewed as a "sensible" and "professional" alternative to DIY-self-built-self-delusional exclusivity....lord...I hope these words don't come back to bite my lilly white!

One company wants to lump the 999 elefant and the BIMOTA together, charge a 1500GBP excess and a 1400GBP annual premium with a restricted 3000 annual miles.....Hhmmmm

Any advise would be appreciated.

You must be playing a Postcode lottery with those numbers....I have an annual premium less than 700squid...fully Comp...and thats for 8 bikes, four classics and 4 moderns....6 of them being Bimotas...but thats just the one policy of a "combined classics" sounds like you need to rejig your insurances...I'm presuming they are garaged? There was once a discount for "bimota Enthusiasts" members...but that club has ceased and theres just the Forum for UK Bimota Boys...and Folk from further overseas...

I agree...some re-jigging is needed.....although I am only 5 months into current premium year. Despite 13 Years NCB the best is still bad.
As for the postcode.....I am on an island in the Thames.....Essex side ..where the woman are tall and the pickings are easy...or so the Insurance companies would have you believe..
Still....never thought it would be easy.
I will trawl the insurance companies and hope for the best.

The DB9 looks great all bar that crazy number plate thingy....all the wrong angles and way too intrusive.
....I feel a fettle may be needed...I might have to tug that old welders leather apron...so to speak!

Go for the Classic insurance it's way easier than getting a stand alone policy for bikes.

Have a look at modern vs classics, it might pay you to buy a classic and balance it all up. As said above try James or Footman James

Many thanks for the input......finally went for PeterJames based in Birminham where their quote was hotter than a local vindaloo.......a shade under £600 for all the bikes....5 off.....bearing in mind the 999r elefant was £584 on its own last year with Bikesure...kind of makes you wonder.
Collect the bike tomorrow and will load some pictures if someone can explain how it works! Anyway....thanks for the tip on PeterJames.
Next up .......track down that exhaust which has been fabricated by angels ...I have emailed the factory and they reckon that they can help.......Lordy..what I done!

I'm with Peter James, excellent company, and you talk to real people. Mega competitive on my 10 bikes, and they have just come in with the best premium on my TVR.

Glad you got sorted Gavin....Classics are always the best policies...makes you wonder not how they do it...but how the others have been ribbing you in the past.........Sometimes its cheaper to buy a cheapo small classic just to reduce your policy
