|
|
Now I know this may go against the Forum/be not the spirit of its intentions, but as a member of other Forums, would there be any interest in logging a section for "Other bikes" . I think theres quite a few of us out there that whilst are Bimota Enthusiasts, we also have our "pieces on the side" that some may wish to share. Some other Forums, that may have upwards of 6,000 members often share "other bikes" on their Forums, and other sections such as "In memory of" touching but perhaps a tad morbid. Traffic seems slow , Any ideas? |

My opinion.....for what it's worth..........
There are many, many other forums out there that cater for just about every make, mark and style of bike on the planet.
This is a BIMOTA forum |

Whilst I do share your opinion to an extent Oily, I just seem to think there is a tailing off of interest/input. And whilst the usual suspects are out there, posting, riding, mending, advising etc, there seems to be a general decline. Evidently there are other Forums, that are alive and kicking, muc h traffic back and forth, but also open to other posts to keep the pursuit of biking pleasure alive and kicking. Evidently there are many secretive Bimota owners, and rightly so, their choice, the age of owners is only going one way. Some 10 years ago the Bim Enthusuasts club did a survey for Footman James to secure insurance discount as a group. Average age of owners back then was 52.....There are other Bimota Owners out there, such as the Sultan of Brunei who owns 3 Bimotas, but fairly certain he hasn't posted on the Forum |

There is a very good reason that this forum is a little quieter than other forums.......
EXCLUSIVITY
it's been quiet since 2008
When I want to talk about Suzuki's, do I go to the Yamaha forums
(well actually I do but only in passing not a full blown discussion)
If you feel the need to show off the other makes you own, go right ahead. I'm sure no body will have a problem with it and I'm sure we are all interested in most makes of two wheeled wonders BUT.........
this is a BIMOTA forum. |

I Don't think theres any danger as regards "exclusivity" numbers of Bimotas made and still existing ensures that mantle, but out of 411 registered "users" 155 of them have no posts at all, and a further 200+ have less than 20 posts a piece. Some Forums have sealed sections until you've achieved a given period of time and posted a given number of items. I'm all for freedom of access, but if people were limited, they may well post more and expand the pot of potential knowledge, and/or increase the time that they contribute. I'm fairly certain that you wouldn't want the exclusivity to increase to the level whereby you're emailing yourself and then replying back? The sheer numbers of bikes and owners out there is the limiting factor, that won't be changing by any great shakes, any increase in traffic on the Forum wouldn't change the exclusivity, merely broaden the appeal and gene pool. Part of me would prefer that no-one had ever heard of Bimota and perhaps I could pick up a DB1SR, and SB3 and a tricolor DB5 without anyone else being interested in buying, but then after I'd done that I suppose I would "log off" |

I always figured that we discuss other makes by the very nature of Bimota using donor engines? We have an anything goes option also? I am on an 888 / 851 forum which I visit on a regular basis. Even with that fairly exclusive bike it is, as this forum, uncluttered by bland chat. I like the fact that when we all post it has validity , interest and often far more worth to us all then the effort it takes to do it. The point is worth a good look but I think we have that angle covered by Keith already? _________________ Pomps

i find most forums are in gradual decline so this one pottering on as an "exclusive" club is probs not doing too bad - IMO it has more to do with Faceache, etc............ |

Whilst I applaud 2 Bims endevour to inject some pace into the forum, I for one would be happy to leave it as is.
When you get to read what gets posted on some of the other "lively" forums I frequent, it would make you shudder.
"Show me your pussy" is a prime example - yes it's about cats - but really, do you want to post pics of pets on a bike forum?
Quality, not quantity, is what is important to me.
Shame I've never managed to post a quality post............ |

I don't see how other bikes would enhance this forum, but feel free to put a thread up in the General Chat area if you want to.
Really though what can anybody say other than ... Nice bike when you show it. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

For myself it wasn't so much about my other bikes, as I evidently know them, but more about other peoples bikes, as I know many folk have differing models than just Bimota, and with the Forum being a CGI "surreal" platform courtesy of the internet, it would provide more of an insight into the actual Forum members , wasn't looking for Holiday snaps and family portraits (unless everyone is in Italy on a Bimota) and whilst a readers wives section could be interesting, there are other platforms available for such pursuits. The presence of other bikes, or other suggestions was for the more human side of the members, and to add further interest in to the site. But as said by many, forum is open for that anyhow, I will step down from the soap box, and hope that the Forum and banter continues, cheers |

I wonder if the forum is getting slower? I suspect it is actually getting more popular and busier? I would suggest we should all attempt a once a year meet to put ugly faces to names! _________________ Pomps

Sounds good. Maybe we could have the first one in Australia. Of course you guys would be most welcome to bring your bikes. Plenty of room at my place to store them. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Vort has suggested, but yet to post, that perhaps a booking of accommodation/ferries at next years Isle of Man TT should be done, to give a chance for all interested to meet up, and we could all bore each other with Bimota chat, so to speak. It would give plenty of time over winter for people to fettle bikes and prepare. Faces to names, names to log-ons, mine aint as pretty as the Bimota, and I suspect the same of most, strangely only seem to have pictures of the bike and not me on it, think theres more strangers photos taken with the bike than there is of me. Had a few people ask "is it OK to take a photo", at only a pound a time I do allow it, have to be fair |

I cant plan that far ahead due to the unstable nature of my work... How about picking a location in the midlands somewhere to make it equally hard / easy for the Brits to get to and say 1st Sunday of every month (irrelevant of date) we should all make an effort to get there? We can keep in touch on a monthly basis so some poor sod doesn't turn up and be billy no mates? I ride all year when home, just slap on the heated vest and away. Any suggestions on location and days? _________________ Pomps
