There were 10 Bimotas for sale at the Las Vegas auction this year. All sold. Prices include the 10% buyer fee.
Lot T38 1988 Bimota DB1 SR. 14,000 miles, some scratches in paint, small cracks in fairing, would make a nice rider. Sold for $36,300
Lot F65.1. 1992 YB8. Showed 0 miles, nice condition, sold for $16,500
Lot F65.2. 1991 YB10. Showed 20 miles, like new. Sold for $17,600
Lot F197. 1988 YB4R, still in the crate, never assembled. Sold for $30,800
Lot F195. 1991 YB6 el tuatara, in the crate, never assembled. Sold for $19,250
Lot F193. 1984 SB4, in the crate. Sold for $17,600
Lot F265. 1998 DB1R. No headlights so probably can’t be registered. Some cracking but paint, stripes excellent condition. But was missing the drive chain (?). Sold for $30,800
Lot S179. 1986 DB1S, in the crate. Sold for $35,200
Lot S189. 1988 YB4, crated. Sold for $24,750
Lot S188. 1978 KB1. I don’t remember the mileage on this one, it looked like new, I had never seen a KB1 in person, pictures don’t do it justice, it really was a beautiful bike. I thought about bidding on it, but price quickly shot above $20,000. It sold for $27,500 to the guy sitting right in front of me.

| I was looking at the DB1 SR and the R and was thinking of opening an account with Mecum...it all looked to hard,,, anyway I wouldn't have paid those sort of prices for them. |

I was an early bidder on the DB1SR, but when the price crested $25K ($27.5K with buyer premium) I dropped out. The condition didn't warrant the final price in my opinion. I had the paint at a 7 or 8 out of 10 and would have had the bike repainted if I had won it. As I recollect the left rear turn signal was broken also. Given the state of the bike, I assumed a full mechanical service would be required.

Lot F265 was engine out, hence no chain, with "new" engine included in a crate.

The KB1 as I recollect had about 10K km or 6K mi. |

A friend of mine was at the auction and took a closer look at the DB1R engine - it was not properly sealed/stored. Sounds like it will need to be thoroughly gone through if to make it road worthy. Furthermore from my friend's account the winner of the bike may not have known if the engine was out or the condition of the engine, at least the auction house certainly didn't disclose any of that.
I got into Vegas on Friday but seeing the results from previous days decided to stay away from the auction. The $200 bidder fee was better spent at the bar(s).

Its been sat in the Dining Room for nearly 3 years now....So sort of...yes....Impending House move to different country helps...less bikes to export/transport.....recent Mecum auction results for DB1's...all that had quite major issues.....a few friends that are also offloading the odd bike..because they also accept they have too many...or simply aren't riding them....the DB1 isn't going to get any "bigger"...and unlikely I'll get any smaller....In the last 3 years I've cut down on "Shows"...or at least showing Bikes....even stopped the annual Bimota Show with friends and the like since the 2017 one where 38 bikes were shown together.....I do more shows per year now...but riding just the one bike to them...choosing this or that...so actually enjoying the shows and the ride there and the ride back again...with other kindred spirits and like minded soles....
I think we all "know"...that at some time...all the bikes we have will be sold...we are but temporary guardians of such things..... |

Was at Vegas and was surprised by how strong the Bimotas offered this year were there. Normally they are "give aways" there. Supposing a "new" old Bimota is worth +/- $25-$30K USD but I'm definitely a seller at those prices!
As for the DB1 with the engine out, The engine did look a little "worn". The intake and exhaust ports had clearly sat open for a long time and only two of the four (as memory serves) had a bit of paper towel stuffed in them. That said, for a 30+ old motorcycle, I wouldn't think the engine would need anymore recommissioning than one would do anyway.
Still riding my DB2 from time to time now, but with Vegas (and it's prices) behind us, sorry to say, thinking it will go away this spring!

Chuck, say that isn't so!
Every time I ride the Dieci I realize that I can never sell this bike. My wife did say I can put one in the living room - tough decision between the F4 and YB10 but luckily I still enjoy riding the Dieci too much to put it into mothballs.
I think the auction results reflected collector interest. "Daily riders", which is what mine is, may firm up somewhat but generally will remain the same
