Ok. So if I understand you guys correctly, the complete axle is ONE piece?

In that case, hopefully there's nothing wrong with it. I've been trying to undo it by holding the r/h square end and using a breaker bar with inhex socket on the other end.

I'll have another look at it. I probably won't get to it before I head off on my trip next weekend.

I'm SO glad that I posted up here before I cut the axle or completely fucked it up Shocked

Thanks fellas Wink

Yeh...spindle is one piece...so holding one end and trying to turn the other would be like trying to twist your steel spindle into spaghetti......the only "spacer" on the front end is the speedo drive assembly.....For once...follow the workshop manual......undo the pinch bolts and turn the larger diameter square head end of the spindle anti-clockwise to unscrew it from the LHS fork leg....

Right... I'll have to find time to give it a go before I leave. I received my new tacho for the db4 the other day too, so I'm keen to see if it works.

Good news... There's nothing wrong with the axle in the db4 Very Happy. It IS exactly as described above.

I've now got the sb6 ready for the track day so I'll stick with that plan. Ill get new tyres on the db4 after I get back from my trip and track the db4 next time. I'm planning on doing 2 or 3 track days this year anyway Wink

Well I've done my motorcycle trip to the WSBK's, Tasmania and squeezed in 2 x track days on the sb6 on my way home. It's been a big trip.

I did a track day at a lovely circuit called Morgan Park Raceway at Warwick on Friday last week and then another track day at the super fast Lakeside Raceway in Brisbane on Sunday just gone. Both really nice tracks and completely different.

There were professional photographers at both days and I've purchased their photos, so hopefully I'll have some good pics to post up. Laughing

The WSB at Phillip Island looked good on TV , must have been great to watch live.
How did the Sb6 go at the tracks ?

WSBK's was fantastic mate. More relaxed security etc than MotoGP at Phillip Island. You can ride your bike around anywhere you want to view the racing. Weather was good too. It was also good to see Troy Bayliss on a superbike again.

The sb6 went really well, no dramas. I did however very nearly highside the sb6 out of turn 6 at Lakeside Raceway. Scared shit out of me Crying or Very sad

Glad to hear you're all back in one piece...you and the bike...and that the Db4 axle is fine also....you worry me with being out in the middle of nowhere when something potentially doesnt work or is broke...

That's the problem of Bimota's on track days. Good to get them out and give them a good run to see what they can do, but if you overstep the mark and happen to gain a bit of damage , the cost and availability of spares outweighs the fun had on the track. But by skill or luck you saved it to live another day Very Happy .

I've missed the occasional gear and had to run on but keep it upright and it's been Ok.

I took the option of sacrificing my leg on the DB5R when a car pulled out in front of me and blocked my path.....managed to swerve around dragging my leg across the front of the car..........even though it twas all in a split second.....my mind elected to use my body as crash protection...and to keep the bike off the ground...rather than have to wait many moons contacting Bimota and waiting for replacement parts.........amazing how quick a decision process can take when it comes to Bimotas...almost a 7th sense develops.... Laughing

As a minor lowside can cost 14000 American dollars, falling down is best avoided!

The body parts and the rt. fork foot left Federal Way in Washington at 4am on the 12th, today, so I should have all of the pieces later today or tomorrow. The right side of the front fairing was around $1100, the right side panel and the tail piece were over 3 grand a piece, $784 for the fork foot, the ally tank turned out to be just a couple hundred more than the plastic one.
I have a hunch that this tank was the prototype for the early bikes, it was not completely finished when I got it.
