Hi Phil

as Pompey says - you need a chat with Laminator - he's quite a collection of YB's as well.

Pictures are a pre-requisite of joining the forum too you know.......... Wink

Welcome to the forum Phil. Good to see another Aussie on board, and a Queenslander too. Gives strength to the theory of... it's hard to stop at one bimota Wink . Your yb's look great mate.

Cheers,
Brian

Actually got 3 yb7. One is in a few bits at the moment. It caught fire whilst I was riding it! It was just before Christmas a few years ago and I was cruising along quite slowly one summer's evening when all of a sudden she stopped and all the lights went out. This was on a fairly quiet but street lit suburban road in Brisbane. No problems,I thought...a fuse maybe? Not so far from home anyway and can call my wife to bring the ute if necessary..I looked down at my right lower leg and for a moment I thought I had picked up a bit of Christmas tinsel or a "crunchie" wrapper. (Gold wrapped choc bar here in Oz). No....that would be flames!!!!Madly tried to put it out with a garden hose...not working. Some guy stopped in his car and threw a blanket over it.. must have been polyester...just made things worse. Finally a guy came with a fire extinguisher and put it out.
We found out later that where the positive wire goes to the battery over the metal battery box it shorted out. A small half circle bit cut out of the top fixes the problem.
I have purchased all these Bimotas out of Japan. When I went over a month or two after the fire I excitedly related my story to my Japanese guy at the Import centre. Deadpan..as only the Japanese know how.. he says.."oh yes.. a few have done that". Anyway.. not too badly damaged and spurred me on to get a couple more.(They all have the battery box mod now)

Is one of your yb7's the one that's been on ebay for a while?
