Hello folks, Hopefully i will be having my Bimota SB6 delivered on Friday, Ive never had one before, Always had gsxr 1100s 6 of them. I fancied something different so i thought the SB6 would be a good choice knowing that it runs probably one of the best engines that has ever been built, Ive been on the lookout for a while, There is 2 on ebay but they was well over what i can afford £7995 probably worth it i dont no, The one i have bought is quite low miles 5700 miles and considerably cheaper than those, Am i going to be happy with it folks is there anything that goes wrong with them any modern day modifications that will need doing, When i get it i will post some photos...kindest regards Tommo |

Hope you're handy with tools or know someone who is
Lots of fun but it would be nice to have a back up bike for the days and weeks when the 6 is being fettled
Lots of info in the old sb posts or just ask oily

Hi Tommo
Don't change the front sprocket
or the clutch
or the clutch slave cylider.
Change the brake lines if they're original. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Welcome Tommo, good choice the SB6.
There are plenty modifications to do on the SB6 but as EC say the brake lines are for your safety important. It’s nice when you can stop the bike when you want.
Modify the side stand if it is too short. Saves damage the fairing. Plenty solutions on this forum. _________________ vince

Hello Hursty, Thats got me worried are they really that bad for reliability, Cant be any worse than my old gs1000 and z650 that ive got tucked away in the back of my garage, Ive got a fireblade for my everyday blast, Never have any money as long as i have bikes. |

Hello Evilchicken, I wont be going to mad on the old girl so i might just change the lines, I aint 100% sure what mods have been done until i get her stripped down, Hopefully none. |

Hello Vince, thanks for the info on the side stand that will be one of the first things i look at, If i remember right the one on my old TL1000 was crap to, bloody thing nearly caught me out loads of times when polishing the thing. |

The only issue I have had was blowing the 30A fuse that is hidden away.
The original brake lines had an aluminium splitter to go from 1 line from master to 2 lines to the callipers. Oily had one literally fall apart on him,
I'm still trying to sort the setup out, but Its getting there. _________________ Si...

Hi Tommo, welcome on board. Great choice of Bimota and back up blade! I have had relatively few issues with mine. The best thing about having an issue, perhaps, is you have to strip everything down for almost anything! While you are at it with the engine dropped you do as many other things as possible at the same time... When you first take its clothes off see if the rubber matting has been removed behind the engine. It causes over heating of the charging system and the rubber bits fry so best to wip it out. If its even close to needing front sprockets and chain then get it all done at the same time. You get used to dropping the engine! There is a thread about all the things to be done should the engine be out... I will hunt it down. _________________ Pomps

Hello Vince, yep ive got it mate, It was delivered last week..bloody filthy but other than that its in good nick, Stripped it down so its all over my garage at the minute, Ive got the coolers and exhaust off so while its in this state i might whip the lump out and give it a check over, I might have a photo from the advert if i have i will post it Vince...kindest regards Tommo |
