...There is a dust cover shown in the parts list but I have a feeling that's for the Oscom wheels _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

ok, wheel centered in the forks.
today I've struggled in remounting the carbs: I didn't noticed the first bowl is modified to allow the idle screw to rotate a little bit. And the third bowl has to be swapped with the second as the drain screw hits the frame...
Re-routed two times the throttle cables...
forgot to install the choke cable... off again
the third carb-to-head clamp did rotate and I was not able to reach the screw... off again
at the end I was a "little bit" nervous, but I did it _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

That sounds about right ... how was the airbox ??? Usually they go on no problems but then sometimes they just don't sit right, I think it's something to do with the orbit of the Moon _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I always seem to have trouble getting the airbox to sit right in the rubbers. ...Well done Marco, Bet you'll get it right first time, next time
2 and 3 float bowels swapped over makes it exceedingly difficult to drain them so the best thing is to ride it regularly to avoid the need to drain them
Hope you didn't have trouble with the air box not sure how you can struggle with the air box unless you've not checked the rubbers are pointing in the right direction. bit of lube makes sure the rubbers slip onto the carbs properly _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

The trouble with lube is the rubbers slip off too. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

....well don't use lube then
a squirt of silicon spray will have dispersed long before the challenge of tightening the clamps.
try warming the rubbers instead, whatever works for you but how you have trouble lining up the air box is beyond me.
The most important thing is to make sure the rubbers are in the right position, they do have indicators on them _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

thank for any advice
Would it be a good idea to install the rubber 2 and 3 in the carbs and then fit them in the airbox?
I guess they would be the hardest to reach with fingers...
Oily, did you tune up your big bore with twin pod filters? _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

You've got a standard airbox and rubbers so it fits as a unit (all 4 on at once), it's one of those things the first time you do it it can be fiddly. Sometimes the rubbers look all ok but one gets caught up it's just one of things. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

after two hours of attempts... I gave up in remounting air box
then I took pipercross twin pods and I noticed they are not so good to fit the carbs...
at the end they slip on, but they could be better manufactured.... _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

I meant I used the pipercross twin pods
However I started it up... warmed a while and have done a carb Sync...
all ok.
The only bad spot is a suspected leak from the radiator...
Is it possible to fix or not... and in bad case is the SB6 rad swappable with a gsxr one?
I think that flushing the rad I opened some old hole that was resting in peace... _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |
