... Stripped a leaking fork leg that was supposedly serviced by experts a few hundred miles ago. The amount of crud in the bottom makes me think that they changed the fork seal without stripping it down properly......
...Lesson learnt, if you want it done properly, do it your self and don't pay hundreds of pounds to so called experts for a quick easy job:wink:
How many parts in a fork leg

how did you stripped it down without Paioli tools?... I tried to do on my own but I couldn't reach the bolt covered by the top of the spring...
Hope the shop did a good job...but.... _________________ Honda CB450K1 - CB750K2 - CB500K1 - RC30 - Ducati 750SS - Bimota SB6 |

Would be very difficult without the proper tools, even for the professionals. The nut that is covered by the top of the spring is easy to undo, just grind a 17mm spanner flat so that it slips between the coils of the spring. In my case a genuine Mercedes Benz spanner I just had lying around _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

While you have access to the tool kit, can we not take some drawings off them so they can be made up?
I'd be up for a set, as I'm sure you would, and maybe others on this forum would be too.
And of course with the permission of the tools owner.

...Loads of red rubber grease on the seal holder 'O' ring...
...Slide it on and fit the retaining ring.
Fit the clamp to keep the seal holder in position..fit the seal and bushes using the special slider tool...
..followed by the seal retaining ring and dust cover.
then in with the cartridge...
...couple of drops of thread lock on the threads and screw home tight with the special tool.
...Fill with 285ml of 10w fork oil, fit spring....
...spring can go in either end first. fit spacer and top cap and there you have it, one down three to go...
...easy peasy with the proper tools
