Road tax sorted, bike prepped, first ride today in ever increasing circles out from the work shop! Anyone fancy a run out this weekend give me a holler!

The TiNi fork tubes were genuine Bimota parts for 41, 43 and 46mm forks- I've got a pair for the DB2 sitting here. I think they cost 'a lot' new- apart from somebody trying to sell some on ebay last year for 'a lot', these are the only other ones I remember seeing. A rare catch Pompey : )

I have to say I do like the look of the mk1. My last one was a mk2 and whilst the differences are subtle I am beginning to prefer the mk1. Gold forks help I guess.

test ride went really well. Engine smooth and linear. Not as noisy as my last one but it seemed to make it feel smoother and faster so going to leave it well alone. Gear box is positive if not slick although had to adjust the lever, someone had a club foot. Its a shame I cant figure a way to make it race gearing? I nearly came a cropper twice dropping down expecting it to be a higher gear! Anyone ever done a mod?
Handling was slow to turn in then tucking once over.... mmmm not a flat tyre so going to drop the forks thru the yoke 10 mm to sharpen the steering and allow greater compression damping to stop tucks. Will see how that goes tomorrow. Back end seemed fine, and I forgot how comfy the 6 is. After spending more time on my 888's the leg room and reach to bars is positively lounge like on the 6. You can tour on these no probs... now thats an idea!

Put a lot of miles on her today fiddling to get a base setting. All done, had to drop forks 15 mm in the end which is exactly the same as my last 6. Only downside is side stand a bit to long now  she is fairly well sorted now so confident to take it anywhere, ran the engine hard thru the rev range and no nasty noises,overheating,or being fuel sick all over the road, result. All that's left is a tyre change as they hoops are old and plugged so not worth the risk. Happy days, now on to the db2!

Being a Mk1 it does have an adjustable headstock so next time it's apart.......

No....on the Mk1 the bearing rollers are barrel shaped and different offset spacers are used for the bearings to change the head stock rake
