Dont be worrying about the bank balance, they can be positive and negative Laughing
You can even pass debts on to people in your will Laughing (although not legally binding, but worth thinking about just for the crack Laughing )

Don't be worrying about the bank balance?

What's a bank balance?

Might be even more room in the garge in 3 weeks when I'm officially unemployed Wink

Firstly, thanks to all the regular contributors to this forum, its been soooooo informative. Only been reading it after looking at the ebay ad. Just joined as a member. Please be patient if I don't get the hang of this message board, not a big IT fan.

Looking forward to pulling my magnesium wheeled , carbon fibre clothed (not) SB6 apart and getting it to start!!!!!!!

Negotiated a considerable drop in asking price. It's all there, unused for 5 years. Loads of history, not that there is much with 6500 miles on the clock. Needs going through and using / shake down before strip and bloody good clean.

Anything I should look out for initially???? Very Happy

Yes........
look out for the barbed jibes about it having too many cylinders and the fact you have to pull the engine for most jobs. The two cylinder brigade are just jealous over our proper bikes and embarrassed that probably the best rider on the planet can't make one of those "half" engines "go" properly Wink

Now... start a thread in the SB section and then take a bucket load of photo's so we can advise/take the pi55 (delete as appropriate).
Laughing

Good choice Bimota Virgin, I am very close to you and happy to come around any time to help in any way. The sooner its running the better and keep putting miles on every week is the best way to keep it running! Wink

Looking at the ebay advert again the majority of the wording seems to be lifted off the Carol Nash web site.

If they think it has full carbon body work and magnesium wheels that will explain the ridiculous quote I've had to add it to my insurance that already has 7 bikes on it including 2 agreed value classic bikes, A BMW K1200R (yeah I know, don't go there!) and an early Aprilia RSVR! Fridays quote to add to my insurance £60 Very Happy. Saturdays quote to add to my insurance, having bought the bike, an extra £270 Mad

As my insurance was due........ today, I had to renew yesterday. The very helpful guy on the end of the phone managed to get it down a bit but I've had to suck it in and pay the full renewal as the underwriters don't work Sat. Hoping for a review on Monday and some sort of refund from the £270 additional cost.

I feel a letter of complaint coming on Sad

Blimey, that is steep for an additional bike. We have a few threads on insurance here but the Footman James ended up trumps for me. Like you I have a selection of old hacks and it was 350 for the lot fully comp.

Cheers Pompey,

I'll give Footman James a call early next week.

I've got 14 days to cancel my Carol Nash without an admin charge (due to the mess up with quotes and underwriters being closed).

We'll have to meet up and talk bikes soon, once I have the Bim. Smile

Well, had a right result with the insurance. They eventually came up with a quote for all my bikes including the Bimota for..........................£15 more than the renewal without the Bimota! That's £400 less than they originally wanted. Eh?
Tried Footman James, apparently a minor conviction for crossing a double white line and a theft last year of my 1200 Bandit from outside my house mean I cannot be insured! Oh well, just as well CN came up trumps.
Picked the SB6 up Sat, spent most of Sat afternoon stripping and cleaning stuff. Had the carbs off, one slightly blocked jet but otherwise OK. New fuel in. Push the button and..... not a peep. OK, bit optimistic I guess.
Gonna change the plugs and all fluids before I go any further.
Do they suffer from any electrical gremlins on the ignition side?

No more than any other Italian bike Wink
Usually, the sb6 eats plugs and has the odd dirty connection but otherwise.....

If you've got a good spark then you may want to have the carbs ultrasonic cleaned as opposed to just checking the jets are clear:wink:

Cheers oily.

Just uploaded a pic, where did it go? I thought I loaded it to this thread, any ideas?

Bike has not been used for 5 years, was very dusty etc. Plugs are black etc. Just need to spend a bit of time in the old garage fettling.

Uploading pics is a bit of a black art on this forum.
Most use photo-bucket.
Besides, you should be continuing this thread in the SB section not the for sale section Wink
