Pictures courtesy of Wallaman (Aka Chuck from the States) who will no doubt add his own words
Firstly the previously Discussed SB4/KB3, liking the fresh take on an "oldie" Loving the Fresh white wheels and fresh calipers, discs etc. Wheels look Original for KB3 and Sb4/5 but I thought they were rivetted???? Answers on a Post card
And as like every Human, i.e. we all get older (despite what we tell ourselves) Chuck has updated the KB3 for handlebars and comfier riding, but as long as its being Ridden anything goes eh? No glass cabinet closets on this forum
So Oily, you should be happy there Eh? An in-line 4 fan and rider with a "proper motor", but you can log off now as here is Chucks soon to be delivered more recent acquistion, and No I didn't convince him to buy one, Promise, I didn't , it wasn't me, well unless he's been reading my threads and others on here that is, so perhaps a little guilty
Yep, shes a Corse special with the FCR39Keihin carbs, Corse titanium can and modified tank, all other words to Chuck once he gets delivery......Best of Luck Chuck, and stick around

2bims,
Thanks for posting these pics for me. Appreciated. As I had mentioned in a previous post, the KB3 is actually an SB4 chasis with the Kawasaki motor in it. It was built as a project bike by the folks at Motorcyclist Magazine here in the States back in the early 90's. (No history before that, anyone?) New wheels, brakes, rear shock, heavily built motor, paint, etc. Ended up in the living room of one of their writters for the last 10 or 15 years until I "liberated" it several months ago. Still working on getting it fully sorted although I've got it running quite nicely now.
With the clip ons and fairing, the thing was an absolute bullet, but a torture rack just the same. You got to injure your back and neck at the same time you were slow (quick) roasted by the heat from the engine! Added some bars from an '80s Honda VFR and without the fairing, the beast is almost comfortable for an old man. Not sure about the front "cowl" though. I think it needs something a bit larger with the high bars.
Haven't received the DB4 yet, but looking forward to it. I really enjoy light weight twins and have had several Ducati 900 platform bikes (some were MUCH better than others!). Hoping this one ups them all.
Thanks.

The KB3 looks fantastic. Even without the fairing. Now, if you ever get tired of it ... _________________ Pomps

If I am ever in the position to need some assistance with the ladies, I won't need Viagra; I'll just need to look at these pictures. _________________ Look for my books...

Well the "bible" shows them to be similar, but are supposed to be glued together split rims with rivets all around and these aren't... |

Those wheels are Performance Machine "Chicane" that have been painted white. Originally they came polished. I had a set on a Monster back in the late 90's.

Thanks Speedmade!
I did some checking and the wheels (and brakes) are Performance Machine Chicanes - 17" Front and 18" rear. I suspect these were put on to give a wider range of tire selections. Anyone else recognze any other bits I should know about? The bike has a hydraulic clutch conversion with the name "PMFR" machined into the mounting plate. I'm having some issues with the clutch dragging and wondering if anyone knows anything about this set up.
Thanks.

Chuck,
PM your email address and I will scan the original Sport Rider article for you. It covers lots of the details and specifics of the build. Nick did an awesome job on that bike. I only wish I would have had the free money to buy it.
Congrats,

Speedmade,
Sent you a PM a few days ago with email info. I'd love to get a scan of the Sport Rider article. What is the year/month of the issue it was in?
Thanks.
