maybe should be in general, but tyres are tyres right!
I picked this up recently, http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z143/oilphiluk/Ducati%20999s/
Done 1000 miles on it in the past 6 weeks and needs new boots now. Any suggestions and where to go for them. Rear is a 180/55, currently on Mich Pilot Power 2CTs. Tempted by the mich Pilot Road 3s possibly but open to suggestions on what to go for and where to get them.
You can get Maxxis from about £150 a pair to about £230 for a something top notch. Price isn’t really an issue, the damn thing is a costly beast to run, some of the service bills with it are just plain daft, nearly £1000 for a major service with belts and clearances! Servicing from now on will be DIY! _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

Personally I use part worn Supercorsas but if you want an all round tyre that's good on an occasional trackday have a look at the new Bridgestone S20. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I've done a bit of looking, can get a pair of Conti Sport Attack II's for £205 from Sticky Stuff. I have Sport Attack I's on the YB11 and they seem OK.
other option was Mich Power 2CTs from Crossan for £200 or Pilot Road 3's for £235
bike (like my others) isn't likely to get a lot of wet use. _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

I use the pilot road. They are great, warm up quick, plenty good enough for track days and have at least some longevity... _________________ Pomps

For the love of all things good... NEVER buy Contis.... I had some that did about 1000 miles and the importer actually took them back and gave me some Pirelli's to replace them..... |

I went for the Conti Sport Attack II's. £203 I think. Should be delivered in the next day or so and will get them fitted ASAP and give them a try! Will update with review! _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

I had Conti Race attacks on and so did Adam on his 600. My other mate had sport attacks on his 600... On the way to the Nurburgring both me and Adam had the bikes leaving black lines coming out of corners..... But we were riding at about 60%! At Hochenheim the things were just spinning up all over the place and we were no where near up to pace. Tried them when we got back at Mallory and the fastest lap I could manage was about 1m 10sec... Swapped to Pirellis my times went down to 1m 00sec Good enough for a top 10 finish in the road stocks class.. They were just horrid at any kind of pace. I dont mind spinning up the rear a bit and even with Pirellis coming down through the Devils Elbow I get it lit up but it was like riding on ball bearings.... Cambrian tyres have the importer based there and swapped both mine and Adams sets when we got back.. They were simply the worst tyres we had ever used.... Adam is a quick rider and has not finished outside of the top 3 in every race he finished... So pace is not a problem for either one of us.... lol... |
