I had a quote from Peter James, (ex FJ partner), YB11, RSVR Edwards, Ducati Superlight, NC30 £290 fully comp with European breakdown. www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk but you need to email them the details, online quote thing isn’t great _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

In the process of getting my Santamonica registered so just put it on my FJ policy. Rang for a quote on monday and told them it will get a 58 plate, extra £300 to add including admin fee, thought a bit steep so ring around. Anyway value was a issue on its own policy so back to FJ. Went through the details, thought I best clarify the age of the bike , so told them it was manufactured in 2004, but first registered in Italy in december 08. OH said the girl, just wait a moment, GREAT , I thought, they going to say they can't insure it now, That will now only be an extra £179 as it is manufactured in 2004 ??????? Hey, how does that work.

So- effectively, my sb8r was manufactured in 98, but 2004 was its first registration- does the insurance run on manufactured year or registrated?( first time ive insured a late registrered bike). |
Akito, as they did not make the SB8R in 2004, only 98/99 and the frame number will prove the year it was manufactured, I would say it will be worth asking the question at FJ as they insured mine on build date and your's will classify as a classic. |

bimota's are classic once 10 years old, most others are 15years to qualify.
I have
1994 Superlight (classic)
1995 NC30 (classic)
Yb11 (model year 1998 but registered 2003, so who knows!)
RSVR 2003 (modern)
So long as the number of classics outweigh the moderns then you can have the lot on a classic policy _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

That is true, but appears its not quite that simple. I did not change the value of the Santamonica, or the registration date, all I did was tell them it was made in 2004 and registered in 2008 and that reduced their quote by 33%.
Worth while I think |

yamaha r1 spyball al/im 1998
honda gl1100 aspencade usa imp 1981
aprilia pegaso factory 660 2009
= wont cover/ carbon wheels a no no!
so luckily i have the orig and removed the carbon wheels from cover
= £589
so asked the prob here/ was believe it or not .the pegaso factory being a 2009, (the pegaso and r1 are going up for sale this yr anyways)
result,join vjmc(£30pa) and wing ,bim,and r1 £230! ( 3000 miles p.a.,no commuting for work,brick garage and vjmc membership) bingo!
fj have my buisness!, and i can use my 9yr ncd on a seperate aprilia policy if i wish!
my valuation total for the bikes is approx £17k (with out the pegaso).
