Mine are pretty dim. Is this a normal occurance among SB6 models? Also, the stock horn sounds pretty anemic. Other than that, the bike is great. Runs strong, batteries seem to be charged, etc.
If the headlight issue is common, what have some of you done to correct it? Thanks. _________________ SB6 |

I am pretty sure I read an article or it may be on this forum, that Zxr 400 headlights fit just fine and are much brighter. If you can get some lights from a jap import at least they will be directed to the right for USA roads... _________________ Pomps

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into it. Not sure if we had the ZRX400 in the States (400cc bikes aren't very big in this market), or if we did what it was called. _________________ SB6 |

If you can find definite proof that it works OK then keep an eye out on UK ebay as items like that do pop up time to time. I am an ebay addict. I'll have a look for you... _________________ Pomps

Just had a quick look. There are two sets on UK ebay at the moment. Put "zxr 400 h" in the search box and select lights in the drop menu or scroll down til you find them. You can bid from the states and they will deliver. _________________ Pomps

I see them. My local dealer happens to be a Bimota historian, so I'll check w/him to make sure they'll work. Thanks for the reply! _________________ SB6 |

Ok, I'm ready to tackle this and get these lights fixed once and for all. I'm going to look on UK eBay for these lights. Thanks. _________________ SB6 |

Ha!
Actually oily I haven't done any research. I'm exactly where I was 18 months ago. I'm just finally getting around to doing something about it!
This is the year that I actually want to ride the bike, and the headlights are the last thing to make right.
I was talking w/my local dealer (and fellow SB6 owner) last week, and we agreed that it's worth a shot to try these ZRX lights. There are 7 sets on UK eBay right now all for around 30-40 pounds. I'll let you guys know how it works out.
By the way, it's not like I've done nothing for the last 18 months......I did manage to get a really nice alcantara suede seat w/the bimota logo stitched in..... _________________ SB6 |

the standard lights are rubbish arn't they I think they come from a moped or a Cagiva trail bike.
Anyway I think there were two styles of lights one bigger one smaller. The mk2 onwards has standard lamps - I got a pair from a GSX-R and had them fitted to an ally plate. You need to fit relays or the wires slowly cook and break. An alternative to the alloy plate is to cut the original plastic item, lets face it your going to use them again

You could also simply install HID inserts.
I have fitted HID's to both of my dirt/adventure bikes, best upgrade i did.
I don't ride the SB6 at night, so i haven't upgraded them. |

The lamps on the SB6 are plastic and although I don't know for sure I think HID's create a bit of heat, so be careful. |

Hi
Thought HID lights ran cooler (they use a lot less power than normal bulbs). They aren't road legal for aftermarket fitment though.
All the best

Here's the idiots guide to HID
As for the legal side, can't find anything in the construction and use about it so as long as you've got a good beam pattern.........
