Hi Folks, Where can I get an air filter for a DB4ie it seems the original is shared with a generator? or is there an aftermarket replacement like a K&N and such like? My one is looking a bit sad after 3yrs (ab)use and the shop I got the bike from is being a tad unhelpful |

not sure about the DB4 air filter but if it's the same set up as the DB2, which is a flat filter sandwiched between two gauze sheets, then simply cut the shape from a new sheet of filter material and replace. Think I have the part-sheet of material left that I cut mine from. |

The filter on the DB4 is a corrugated paper affair with a soft seal around it (square shape) I have some filter paper to make another unit but thanks mutchly for the offer. Now to get the garage heater going, hang 3 doors and tile the bathroom floor to make some space, got to avoid eye contact with the wife so I don't get the "when you've done that you can........speech" don't want to tell her how much I've spent on next years tyres |

The air filter on my carbed db4 was made of a black foam between 2 grades of metal grid. But I ditched it complete with the air box in favour of twin conical K&N pod filter that work fantastically. Just needed to make a support for the fuel tank.
Meanwhile the CV's are swapped for 41mm FCR's and the engine is tuned to its max on stock conrods.
The intake sound on accelleration is awesome _________________ Track riding on a Bimota: FUN!

Sounds nice DeeBee. now all you need is to go the 944 big bore route, wuth high compression pistons, stage 3 cams, gassed flowed and polished head and titianium corse exhaust system and you can be like my DB2, teehee |

I hope 944 kit with Pistal Racing pistons, flowed & ported heads, lightened crankshaft & flywheel, Keihin 41mm FCR's, light clutch and open Akra titanium will do too?
I've swapped the Kokusan ignition boxes for the Bosch BTZ units and it provides better starting and better running up to the higher revs. Old European tuning trick. It cured my intermittent misfires at around 7.000 rpm completely.
I have a set of brand new ones with wiring scheme if you're interested.

A bit late but a question I can help with.
The air filter was from a Lombardini 6DL 435 generator - Jon the Norwegian Bimota importer kindly gave this info out 2 or 3 years ago. Original part numbers were Fiaam part no. PA7096 or Fram CA5398 but these seem to be unavailable.
I measured my original filter and asked my local performance car specialist to try and match it but despite contacting K&N, Green, Pipercross etc they couldn't. So I decided to go with a replacement standard paper filter.
I got an OEM Lombardini filter part no. L2175.134 from Universal Engine Power, www.uni-power.co.uk, about £18 incl postage.
The equivalent UFI part no. is 30.995.00, I got a twin pack from Opie Oils, www.opieoils.co.uk, for £21 incl. postage.

Marvellous! Thanks for that info, feels like I'm spoiling it a bit this year. New air filter and a shock rebuild whatever next? |

Shock is back and installed in the bike, Brook suspension I thank you. Turns out the damper rod was worn which cost £75 to replace making a total cost of £235, ouch but now he has all the specs the next one he does should be cheaper, but it does get ridden hard over some pretty grotty roads. Got the filters from OPIE but part number 30.995.00 is about twice the size of the original air filter so they have been advised of their listing mistake and hopefully the issue will be resolved, oil filters were spot on. |

Sorry you had trouble with the filter from Opie - I've checked my UFI spare and it's definitely 30.995.00 and that's what I have in my DB4ie at the moment. My notes say that I had to ease the cover with a file for a good fit. _________________ Bimota DB4ie

So as far as I could tell, there isn't really a K&N or Likewise Airfilter for the Tesi (watch some one will reply to this thread with the part number). But as luck would have it, The High performance Airfilter for the 09-11 BMW S1000RR from Pipercross (MPX167) is the same width, just a little long. After a razor trimming along with some wire snipping and behold! It fit!
Since it apears to be the same almost Square filter that is also used on the DB's, this has a lot of use (FIAAM PA7096 aka FRAM CA5398)
Just some FYI for you guys. _________________ Will stab for food! |
