|
|
Hi, seeing pictures of Ian's DB2 Tricolore (For sale Germany) reminded me of a question I need to ask
This pics shows the brake lines routed around the forks to the front.
However....
These two bikes show the lines routed Behind and through the forks to the front.
Which is as per factory? Difficult to see with fairings in place.
Has anyone else got pictures of the front brake line routing; including the initial line from m/cyl down to the splitter/Tee Piece.? My routing looks a lttle twisted, with the line zip tied to the front subframe, which doesn't look quite right.
Any pics much appreciated _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

The first pic is how mine is...one brake line down...the front...to a t piece...back thru the forks to back of each caliper...hanging free no ties...ever...its not compression that the fear...its max extension if you lift the front wheel or summit a rise up a hill...i think crankies bike has a dual banjo bolt and 2 full lines |

Yeah the zip tie worried me. It’s a problem after near on 30 years and God knows how many ‘interventions’ on the bike to know what is ‘as per factory’. Also I think when attaching the calipers you need to make sure the banjos are aligned to get the best run of the lines through the forks. (Mine currently rub up against the forks which I would think is a potential wear point).
With most bikes, even that age, there are manuals with photos, (Bless you Haynes!), or probably numerous nearby examples you could refer to. All a bit more problematic with Bimotas. Great to have this Forum as a resource. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

I always run the lines between the fork legs on all of my bikes. Less chance of snagging an old ladies shopping bag.
Seriously, it seems more likely to damage the brake lines in a crash if they're outside the fork legs. However, even the current MotoGP bikes like the Honda run their lines outside of the fork legs, so what would I know? |
