DB2s seem particularly prone to a bit of customisation . ( I have an idea for another thread re that!) However this is usually usually mechanicals (brakes, zorst, controls and engine) and maybe also some fancy paintwork (or even both depending on deepness of wallet!!)

Mr Barnmankit on this forum has a 'naked' DB2 and I've seen one other 'naked' posted up in America

Rarely do you see modified bodywork thoug....unless you count the 'to be regretted later' removal of the rear portion of the tank seat unit that carries the tail light indicators and reg plate.

he photos below give quite a different take on a DB2 that I came across on one of those late night web trawling sessions. The pics were posted in a blog dated 2013 by a bike shop in Yokohama Japan.

The tank looks very DB4 ish in shape but the other bodywork??

Apart from the beutifully executed paint scheme, the bike has a very tasty spec including, 39 mm FCRs (so probably not a 944?), Japanese aftermarket coils and electronic ignition (AS Uotani) aftermarket wheels (only shown on one of the pics from the owners blog) and what appears to be a FULL corse Ti exhaust system incl the header, (bluish colour and lots of Tig welded segments , not bent).... definitely a DEEP pocket build then.

The only other DB2 I've seen with non standard bodywork is a racebike that is definitely wearing DB4 seat tank unit and (I think?) MV fairing.... again Japanese.

Always nice to see what others get up to!

Hhmmm....ALways has a tinge of "I binned it...and couldnt afford replacement bodywork".....

I see the reason on the top one....he's reversed and flipped over the clip ons to raise them up 4-5inches...thus has to have a new front on it or else they would hit the nose cone fairing.....

I'm always one for "less is more"...except with food....exposing the rear subframe makes it over fussy...IMHO

DB4 tank/seat unit does flop onto a DB2...Brian did it and it WAY through me for a while.....bottom picture....yeh...DB4ish...but heavily cut away and restyled again...but what the heck...its a race bike.....so may only get one outing and back to the drawing board....

Yeah almost... I actually flipped the flop.... I sat the DB2J seat unit on the #2 DB4

I’m still undecided whether I like it or not. I think maybe it needs a small bellypan?
