Glad you like them Kit... but I think I’ll quit while i’m ahead on the manufacturing just for now .... I am exploring a couple of bits that I’d like for my bike though but as my mum would say though ‘like isnt get!’
Need some more photos of your naked(!) DB2, a very nice thing methinks.
Still no contact from DB1 860 in Aus.
Anyone on here know him? If no communication in the next days I’ll keep the parts for my own use! _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

I would just like to publicly thank Ralph for his effort and perseverance in getting the batch of DB2 seat fasteners made. A small but important item which in its original plastic incarnation was never really up to Bimota's standards. Thanks to Ralph, the new ones look great, fit perfectly and should last for ever. And the price was extremely reasonable for a very small batch production. Well done that man! |
Thats the sort of comment I like to read.....theres a little too little of this nowadays....someone helping out and going out of their way and receiving no plaudits....and yes...the original nylon plastic ones...what were Bimota thinking????....Cheers again Ralph |

Thanks Kit, 2Bims et al. No sweat (well only a little at times!) I had to get some made as I was a pair short for my rebuild and I wouldn't want to use originals even if they were available (They are not). In the end I should have got a few more sets made but it was my first foray with this manufacturer and the (alas now defunct!) Cerakoter and yes group buys can be a little like 'hearding cats'
Not sure where I would get further parts Cerakoted though as the second coater made it clear that a small batch of small fiddly bits was definitely a 'one-off'. They mainly coat gun parts and larger automotive components (exhausts, panels etc!) I won't argue with that as the business is run by two well built ex-army guys with lots of tatoos. As their (very secure) lock up is just 5 miles from Hereford I'll leave you to guess which unit they came from!
In the end all has turned out well and everybody has now been sent their parts (incl DB1 860!). I didn't do it for plaudits but its nice to get the positive feedback both on this thread and via PMs. Cheers everyone.
[and as we speak.....in a bunker deep in the border country a machinist may well be working on some other bits for my own build. If it works out all will be revealed!!]
Cheers and I think we can now close this thread _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

I'm wondering if there were some of the fasteners that did in fact come from the factory as anodized aluminum items??? The ones on my DB2J are black anodized ally and that bike is pretty much bone stock as it left the factory. Anybody else ever seen ally fasteners on a stock DB2?

So why have you ordered more?...is it because you've polished one black one and cant decide between polished or black....and theres no going back...so order a new pair in black and polish the 2nd set up?
I imagine that Bimota ran out of plastic ones....my DB2 had them....and its an earlyish one from 1993.... |

A small run of special fasteners was too good of an opportunity to pass up. If I don’t use them I may be able to help somebody out in the future _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I sent Brian 2 parcels...same size...same weight...and same contents...sent at the same time.....it was half the price to split the parcel to keep each package under 2Kgs.....One got there in under 2 weeks....One sat at Langley Heathrow airport for 5 weeks before even leaving the country/....its all very random at the moment |

Yes.... for a while there I thought I was going to have to convert the race DB4 to a single disc brake front end _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Ahoy Welshlamb,
are 2 of the fasteners still available?
I don't think the bolts from the bike are an option...
Cheers, Ahab |

Hi Ahab, unfortunately they were all sold. Would have to get another minimum batch made (min 10 sets), so unless there is more interest I'm afraid it will remain No. _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |
