Hi all, picked this up from another forum I'm on, can get some details if anyones interested.
as posted.....
Bimota DB5
Bit of a toe in the water,
What with the Covid thing,I’m not going to get to use this as I planned.
If it’s something of interest give me a call to discuss further.
I took this in exchange for a restored bike last year.
The previous owner told me it was possibly a factory prototype of the db6 deserio,
Who knows if this is true or bollicks.
What I can tell you,is,
The fairing, seat and front mudguard are all hand made alloy,(not plastic or fibreglass)
The Ducati ds1000 motor kicks out @95bhp,
Bimota state 155kg for the standard DB5 which has a full fairing, and twin underseat exhausts so this bike weighs a fair bit less.
End result is akin to a supermotard,a bit lively
Needless to say ,the thing is a work of art and I for one would be happy to just look at it all day long..
Let’s say £9k |

It sounds like the somewhat butchered db5 that was bought in a box of bits...missing all its clothes...so had hand made panels in alloy...it was featured on here some years ago...it ended up in germany from the uk.... |

It changed completely in its later life....and turned into a "transformer"...but not my cup of tea for sure.....far too removed from its origins |

Hmmm , is this the white one with a red go faster stripe over the top and a exhaust exiting just above the rear wheel ?
Trying to find a picture but struggling ATM. |

Curious....
Yesterday there was a new thread posted on the forum (not in this thread) by new member geh007, with a photo of this bike with the red stripe... saying that he just purchased it as a 1 of 1 DB6 prototype...... that thread has now disappeared??? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

That person only joined yesterday......and has not filled out his profile....and its showing as "zero posts" by him....maybe they did post....then realised they've bought Mary Sheeleys Frankensteing….and NOT...an early DB6 prototype....and as such has deleted their own post....if you start a thread and delete yours...it deletes all those following on
Bike came in a box of bits for around £1500 delivered...was taken so far...and then sold...and finished...with a hand fabbed nosecone and seat unit and paint.....it was a crashed DB5 missing its entire front end and all bodywork except the tank....which is DB5......new forks from a different make and model were fixed to it....prototype DB6 it was not.....crashed DB5 turned into a DB6 look-a-like.....I hope hes taken it back to the seller if it was 9 grand to buy....3 or 4 at most for me at least....the sum of its parts.....I remember helping out the original forum member who bought it as a box of bits quite literally.....it did have a whole engine and frame and swingarm...so wasn't a bad price to start with....but...as we all know....trying to amass all original parts to complete is a difficult if not impossible task....and very expensive....alloy frame zigzags on the frame and swingarm are the giveaway....they are solid on the DB5 and milled straight thru to form gaps on the DB6...this had solid.....so should have been clip-ons....but bars were added to yokes |
