My YB6EI has stopped charging. The alternator rotor coil windings seem to be open circuit. I have purchased a replacement alternator on its way from eBay supposedly rebuilt in the states with rebuilt stator and rotor and new regulator and rectifier.
My current issue is removing the old alternator. I thought it might be a bit tight but was hoping that when the mounting bolts were removed there would be just enough room to get it out. I have wiggled it about quite a bit but can't seem to get it in the right position to get it out. I may not have been searching properly bit haven't been able to find anything on the forum. Can anyone enlighten me or do I have to move / remove other items. Has anyone else had experience with replacing alternators on similar YB series? Can you let me know what is the least that needs to be done to get the alternator out, any particular order and any tips. _________________ Steve

Removed clutch slave cylinder and front sprocket cover and was able to slip alternator out. _________________ Steve

I thought the alternator was bolted into the cover, maybe there's an issue with the Bimota frame that I'm not aware of (I know the engine from the ThunderCat _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
