Hi there,
any fellow 3D owners out there with experience of adjusting/mapping of Athena fuel injection? _________________ Cheers,

I havent got experience with the Athena ECU's used on the later bikes....Tesi 3D, DBX and DB10....my experience was that Bimota had not written the programmes for the bikes even up until they closed the factory....Is it over fueling?
I had a DB7 that was overfueling...albeit with Walbro ECU...but...my Ducati mechanics at Ducati Manchester were able to adjust the fueling to balance out the injectors on that bikes with the 1098cc twin cam 4 valve engine...they did this as a favour to me though as they dont normally work on anything other than pure ducatis…..so I would try a Ducati specialist first...as I think the injection and its adjusters on the Tesi3D are the same as on the Ducati Hypermotoard single cam and Multistrada single cam 1078cc engine...bith bikes from around 2007/2008 |

I presume you still have the original exhaust system on the bike? With a front catalytic converter "swelling" in the front header under the engine...and usually theres one in the twin branch cross piece behind the back of the engine...I decatted mine by buying cat free headers on my Db5R and DB6R direct from zard….it not only starts better but runs better as gases and unburnt fuel aren't trapped by the cats...which are a helical winding and quite restrictive...also I run baffle free end cans on both bikes...engine is the same on these bikes as on yours....no need to remap as the lambda sensors seem to take care of issues in the running...both of mine have ran cat free and baffle free for the last 2-3.000 miles a-piece without issue.
I have a contact at Zard in Italy who reads and writes and speaks perfect English if you need...some people cut the cat sections out and remove the cats and reweld...it all depends on the "testing" system in your country for annual checks on emissions...we currently dont have any such system on used bikes...only when first they are new |

I think Piso's 3D is a later one with 1100 EVO motor and Arrow exhaust with single cat like this.

Is it a full arrow system on them then...? Or just not possible to tell like on the zard stuff....as evidently zard made the early tesi3d underseat cans and headers.... |

Hello Gents,
yes - I believe vort28-2 is right. It is a full Arrow system. Do not have experience with the DB5 and DB6 so can not compare
btw: is vort28-2 a re-incarnated version of vort28? _________________ Cheers,

It’s foolish to assume, I know, and I’ve been bitten on a number of occasions doing so..... but vort28-2’s photo does look familiar _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Yes vort28-2 is me, for some reason vort28 has been banned username no longer valid, tired resetting password etc, nothing works. just get the same inactive account message. If I wasn't so thick skinned I would think someone was trying to tell me something !!! ( Facebooked Katy to see if she could sort but in the meantime I thought I would make a new account.)
You can't get rid of me that easily !!
Anyway 2bims , Yes , the full exhaust is an Arrow system with a single cat and 2 lamda sensors , with 1 cat. Very nice system , bigger bore than zard , nice armadillo type bends |

Hej again,
so my Tesi has been running poorly for a while, and I suspected issues with fuel supply. Long story short - I took the bike to visit Armin at D-R-T Schneider for help. Amin detected the cable from the ECU to the relay feeding the fuel pump was partially broken, explaining the intermittent behavior of engine performance. In addition, given the on-off-on-off... power supply to the relay as a result of the partially broken cable, the relay was worn and bad. Now, the bike runs better than ever. As a bonus, I had the pleasure to see Armin's beautiful collection of bikes.... if you are a Bimota fan and have not visited Armin, you still have a mission in life...
Many thanks to Armin

Thanks for the update Piso. It’s nice to know that sometimes there’s a happy ending to these intermittent running issues. Issues like this can be a nightmare to track down.
I’m glad you got it sorted _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
