Yesterday i added a new bike to the collection.... and it isn't a Bimota!

Japan has a wealth of seriously beautiful motorbikes for sale, and it isn't all that far from Australia. 3 months ago i purchased another YB5, the logic was that as i've spent a fair bit of time working on my current one, i felt secure that looking at photos would be enough, with a brief description for me to commit if the correct one appeared, one did so i jumped... i wanted to understand the process and costs involved, so if something out of the ordinary popped up, i would be somewhat prepared...

Well yesterday a very interesting bike appeared, so i now have another Italian bike to keep the Bimotas company...

I bought a Laverda RGS Corsa! From the pics and alot of hurried research i'm quietly confident it is a genuine Corsa, but i wont know for sure until it lands in Australia... I need to pull my finger out and build a garage, as i have no space to put either bike!

I'll post some pics once my shipping agent has collected it, i'm hoping that will happen tomorrow.

looking forward to seeing the pics.
I had a Jota 180 back in the day - hated it with a passion and sold it after 3 months of ownership. The RGS is more refined. Very Happy

A mate of mine had a 180 Jota, it sounded stunning... In the late 1990's i owned a 1996 Speed Triple, it always reminded me of a modern take on the Jota.

What did you hate about yours? It must have been bad to sell it after 3 months!

clutch (very heavy - hydraulic conversions now available), throttle (almost a 2-handed operation), vibration (reason they went to 120 degree motor), ponderous handling at slow speed (ride faster!), erratic electrics - typical Italian bike.
Nothings changed.............. Very Happy

Very nice indeed.....should clean up nicely...and I'm already seeing a LOT of similar add-ons as used by Bimota...so it will be keeping good company.....Switchgear on handlebars as used also on Suzuki GT750 kettles....for which Suzuki vintage parts via all main dealers sell these units brand new...or just bits like the switches.....Brake and clutch masters as used on DB1...although they took the plastic pots off and fitted a circular base plate cap tapped for a hose to link to the reservoirs mounted on top of the forks.....getting very rare but I do have a contact that still sells these pieces and rebuild kits for the masters...and even the plastic reservoir brembo pots that screw in to the clutch and slave masters.....although if interested....I wouldn't want the wold and his dog snapping up the spares just for the hell of it.

Brembo cast iron rotors as per DB1 on the front AND on the rear...and same calipers...still available remanufactured...again...have contacts for these if needed.....(calipers and discs)

Steve, you are also a walking encyclopedia on Laverdas too... How are you able to remember all this stuff!!!

No more pictures to share yet, my shipping agent has confirmed he has collected the bike, he was hoping to get some pics before xmas, but i think it will be early Jan now before i see them...

I'd love any contacts you have regarding parts, feel free to PM me if you want. Master cylinder and reservoir parts would be great as would switchgear..

Floating rear disc!!! That's very impressive, there wouldn't have been many bikes with rear floaters in 85, even Bimotas didn't have them..
