I've heard that the "concept" pictures....just one with one close up on Motorcycle specs was an artists rendition prior to a build of just 1 of 1.....But it is Bimota we are talking about here......L'oro Del Bimota...The latest Bible penned by Messrr Guiseppi Morri mentions just 1 of 1 DB5 Borsalino.....and the paperwork that came with the bike references this also....together with the DB6 version that was also sold at the time to the same person...….And then theres the video clip taken at the factory with the 2 Borsalino bikes in the factory after their return from the various trips to Harrods also...and in that youtube clip of the factory in English they reference just the one of one also of each model |
Yep ok. It took a while, but you eventually got to the bottom of the mystery. Wow, that's amazing to read. I've been following this topic since you started it and checked back ever so often (as a guest to this forum).
I've been searching through your posts to see if you posted some pictures of the Borsalino, but couldn't find any. Did you post any? Maybe I didn't go back in time far enough.
And do have the youtube link of the video you've mentioned earlier? Can't find the video either and I would really like to see some moving images of the bike. |

Thanks for the link. The pics are awesome. This bike has been one of my favourite bikes since it came to light.
Couldn't find the link of the video though, so if you could post it, i'd be much obliged. |

The DB5 of the small Rimini-based company wears exclusivity for the 150th anniversary of the great name of Italian fashion Borsalino
Made in Italy + made in Italy: Borsalino chooses to celebrate its first 150 years with Bimota.
The last sport bike of the Rimini-based company wears exclusivity and gives life to Bimota Borsalino, from the livery in glossy black with the gold-colored brand on the sides that incorporates, other details of the bike.
For this month of September 2007 it will be exhibited by Harrods in London.

Special edition for the 150th anniversary of the Borsalino
From the union between the Bimota and Borsalino brands a very limited edition of a motorcycle was born that purists consider, due to the air-cooled engine, the Italian sports car par excellence: the Bimota DB5.
Simply dubbed Bimota DB5 Borsalino, the special edition celebrates the 150th anniversary of the famous Italian hat company, offering a brand new style with a decidedly more elegant style than the standard white sportswear.
Devoid of all kinds of frills, the white hull of the DB5 gives way to a matte black dress, which contrasts with the gilded elements that make up numerous chassis details: we speak, for example, of Marchesini wheels, aluminum plates made from full of frame and swingarm ... but also of the fork leg platforms and many other minor details.
The Ohlins fork is obviously golden, while it is not clear why the Brembo radial calipers in a banal grey color, given that in the list of the Lombard House there is also the golden version. The Borsalino 150 ° inscription on the hull could not be missing.

its livery black and gold, the Bimota DB5 Borsalino is simply classy. OZ golden wheels, fully adjustable Öhlins suspensions, Brembo series gold brake calipers, the Rimini manufacturer did not skimp on the beautiful gear.
Note also the trellis frame and the oscillating arm in chromoly steel. Only regret, this is a version of the block of the Multistrada 1000 DS and not the 1 078 cm3 in place on the latest version of the Ducati hybrid road, which team Bimota DB5 and DB6 since early 2007. But that does not do much with the case, so much this special edition has of aesthetic arguments. Its price remains: 20,800 euros!

Wheres The video??/ I hear you mutter/scream....Well...here it is
https://youtu.be/ez5xO0jTWvE
Its some 18 odd minutes long and was uploaded in 2009...but I cant find a date of when it was created/filmed.....If you cant "wait" then scroll to 1minute 35 seconds in....Theres also the DB6 Borsalino there....and prior to these 2 you can spy a Tellow and Black DB5S...which Bimota made a sales brochure for ...but I ahve only ever seen one of those for sale....
Oh....And heres the Black and GOld Borsalino watch that came with the bike....Made by Borsalino in Italy, Sapphire Mineral crystal face....SS back which is 10ATM waterproof, thats 100m to you and me..>GEnuine Crocodile leather strap....AND...although Designed and Made in Italy...is has a Swiss Movement...which is probably why it still works...teehee |
