Just do like most old folk do...... Don't log in for a few years and you'll have forgotten your login name and password by then....in your personal profile you can opt for people not to be able to email you, and details are hidden and protected anyhow, so no spamming....there are many past members, and keeping the posts may help with with future issues, the history side is one good part of the forum over the likes of Facebook and other here today gone tomorrow platforms.... |

Facebook to a degree is killing off the forum platform, but as 2bims says, forums are a fantastic resource. Many times i've gone back to old forum posts to retrieve info. Posts on facebook are buried in a matter of minutes. |

Exactly! FB is ok i guess but most of the people that view and comment have no concept of the specificity your post may reference. Forums are a more focused way of getting together, getting help, etc. for a particular product, platform, vehicle, etc. and trolling is rooted out with alacrity.
If I have a question or are looking for a specific parts for whatever the forum is based on, I find that more than likely there are a lot of others who have dealt with my particular widget issue before me and are usually a trove of information.
Personally, I don't have enough time in the day to "play" on all the forums I belong to but they are extremely helpful...and you meet some genuinely nice people through them too. Just look at this bunch right here... |
