Hi all
Just got my SB8RS out of storage so I can use her this year.
Anyhow she is running well but appears to be running cold.
When warm and being used the temperature gauge sits at 62 degrees.
All my other bikes run between 80 to 90 degrees.
So my question to other SB8 owners is where does yours sit?
And to owners of other bikes does this not seem low to you and what effect will this have on the engine / performance?

The engine temp gauge will read somewhat cooler than the engine is actually at, because the temp gauge sensor is located in the top of the right hand radiator, where the ecu temp sensor is located in the thermostat housing. I moved the temp gauge sensor to the thermostat housing because of this.

Mine never goes above 57, but then its colder up north Sad

Guys,

Thanks or the responses, I feel at bit better now.

However leads to another couple of questions........

1. My fan kicks in at 102, so any idea what the bikes actual temperature is?
2. What temperature does yours kick in?
3. Sb8r tuner, if you moved the sensor to the thermostat housing, what temperature does yours read now?
4. Sb8r tuner, I also think this is the right place to have it, so can you please explain what you had to do to achieve this?

PS: Anyone else out there with other views as I am sure there are more than 3 SB8 owners on the forum?

My bike runs cold (59-65) as does yours...and my air fan kicks in beyond 95, I'm sure about that although I do not remember last time it did.

During my ride yesterday, my temp gauge stayed around 80-82C. As far as moving the sensor, I made a bung for the temp sensor and welded it onto the thermo housing. Make sure though, it doesn't get in the way of the shock linkage.

My sb6 was getting hot in traffic in qld so I put a maunual switch for the fans ; tapped in though the earth wire on the thermostat
