Somewhere long ago I read of an exhaust coating available in black and clear finish.
Was it on this forum.?...any details would be appreciated or even better.... real life experience.
Many thanks
Gavin

I used Camcoat on my SB6 and did the whole exhaust system. It was a few years ago now and they still look good. It improved the bike no end, not in perforce but in range. I can ride all day on it and not get my arse burnt.

Many thanks evilchicken0 was there any issues and did you go clear or with a colour?
I am thinking of a static black on the exhausts I have in mind.
....thanks for your input so far.

I know I am not in UK but I am sure that there is something similar in your part of the woods. I have used ceramic coating on my Aprilia exhaust about 4-5 years ago and it's still looks brand new.

I will be doing it on my SantaMonica, BMW and Benelli over this winter. And once I get a new crossover on my Moto Guzzi, I will get Guzzi in Black.

Here a link http://www.jet-hot.com/

They can do it in any color.

Hi

Recently I saw some bultaco trials bikes they were painting there barrels and exhaust in a product called
Gunkote paint.
This paint as I was told was developed by Canadian military for cannon barrels to aid cooling. The bultaco racing bike is saw looked absolutely fantastic with both durability and the bonus of reducing exhaust and engine temps.

And yes I does do this, may be worth a look colours available were satin black and Gloss.

In addition to Camcoat there is a company Zircotec in UK. It claims much better performance as a thermal barrier and judging by its use in a LOT of racing applications I believe them. Used by lots of F1 teams (they can even plasma spray onto Carbon Fibre composities. I coated headers on my KTM 990 and certainly reduced the (scalding) temperatures subjectively.

Downsides are
1) Cost...... is of course £££ although I haven't had recent quotes against say Camcoat [EDIT about double the Camcoat cost]
2) The surface finish of the original 'Performance' range is coarse and difficult to keep clean. Not an issue on racing apps or 'dry use only' motorbikes but would need constant attention to keep clean on my KTM (not feasible!). They have acknowledged this with some bike specific coatings (only silver and black) but thermal performance not as good.

DB5R has been undergoing her annual winter stripdown and clean......as will one or two of the other bikes....been some 3-4 years and a fair few thousand miles since I had the headers and branches ceramic coated in "kroma".....even right up to the point of the cylinder heads it still looks as good as when it first went on...and only requires a mild detergent to wash them down of road crud accumulated....bike has been run in wet and dry conditions...including sea blasted blizzards on the IOM where she lived outside for a week without cover.......Cant recommend camcoat highly enough..
