Hi all
I have had a passion for bikes from a young age and developed a special interest in two stokes. I have been out of bikes for over ten years, mainly through work commitments and a bike accident in 2001.
Last year I started to renew my interest and bought a Suzuki RG500 Gamma. I was determined only to buy a mint example, which took a little while, but eventually I found a lovely 1986 bike in excellent condition. The gentleman, in his 60s, who owned the bike was obviously having second thoughts about selling it and it took me two weeks to prise it out of him. When I arrived to collect the bike I was 'interviewed' for about two hours to make sure I was a suitable owner lol.
Starting late last year I decided that one of the bikes I would dream to own would be a GP500 but due to the cost I could not fulfil that desire so I had the next best thing in my eyes was to have a GP Replica built which is what I had done , I had it built by Mark Dent of Performance Fabrications. Pictures are in the thread of 2bims on the Classic TT oh by the way sorry to have hijacked your thread mate!!!!
Now to the Bimota Vdue500. When I was at the classic TT this year, I kept seeing a two stroke going round the island and thinking 'what was that'!!!! I first thought it was a custom built bike, but eventually I caught up with the owner at the traffic lights for 15 seconds lol and discovered what the bike was. The minute I got back home that evening, my search began!!!
My Bimota is a Vdue Evolution with 801 miles on the clock.
It has dry carbon belly pan
Jolly Moto Pipes
Dry Carbon all over it
Carbed version
I am now about to build a nice big man cave in my garden to house my ever growing bike collection!!!
I will get some pictures up asap.
Regards, Mark. |

Your collection seems to have started at a great pace
Vdue sounds like an EF10 , like the one's we were on/you saw at the Classic .
Pictures we like , and also like the sound of the impending new man cave. Problem is how big do you build it ????? Space for 4 bikes ??? , space for expansion ? Or just go the whole hog and build a barn !!!!!! Oh the possibilities are endless |

Mark Dent......think every time I pick up a copy of Practical Sportsbikes I hear his name mentioned....link to some of his work here....a few of those bikes I've seen on youtube...especially that KH750 triple in what looks like a gsxr1100 frame.....
http://www.performancefab.co.uk/gallery2/
yes...pictures...essential of course...and shared views of riding a vdue compared to the RS/RG500...we all like 2-strokes....and I think without exception on here...everyone with a Vdue ....its the only 2-stroke in their garage??? so a comparison would be nice
Thread jacking fine...we dont have internet police on here.... |

Did you get one of the nice little nifty Bimota stamped allen key keys for the Oil filler cap with the bike?

Nope.....its actually from a Db1 as it releases the 2 allen key bolts holding the rear seat hump in place...and thus access for tools stored in the hump....happens to fit the Oil cap though....and it does indeed have Bimota stamped on it in teeny small letters
Carbon Gear rod?...Begged?...I'm afraid I lowered myself even further than that for one.....
Well worth it as it weighs 5 grammes less...or 1/5th of a packet of Walkers crisps..... |

Wow! That's a great collection. Fancy getting all those spare parts with the VDue.
From what I've heard, Mark Dent is a great bike builder and RG500 specialist, so I'm sure your special has been built properly.
You amassed that in only a year. I'd be keen to see what you get in the next year! |

Very nice indeed....and you certainly seemed to have picked up pretty much everything Vdue related from the previous owner...both of the sales brochures, handbooks, tool kit...not seen a blue one before...leather key fob...much cherished amongst Bimotisti, service holder, service manual...and even the little Bimota key for the Oil filler cap....you evidently kept the previous owner on your side for him to give you all the bits that often get kept as momento's.....Whats in the Goodridge hose bag??
Spare original bodywork including normal original painted bellypan with widening strips to accommodate air boxes due to carb conversion....
I see that the bikes been upgraded to radial brembo master brake also....you must be able to flip it over with one of those....find that the normal gold series is more than sufficient for one finger strong operation......
You just need that elusive carbon gear rod and red mirrors to complete the bike now.....Oh...is that faux carbon wrap on the Antera wheels? That must have been a ruddy nightmare to achieve....
RS/RG500.........Need a few words about that....maybe off BimotaForum track but I dont care....RGV250 swinger...Aprilia RS250 modded frame?...square bodied Mikuni flatslides? Titanium spannies.....Wheels I aint sure about....engine mods??? MOre info....More info... |

HiBud977
Mark Dent is a two stroke guru, in my opinion. His attention to detail is amazing. He made so many parts from scratch on the RS-RG500, ranging hand made exhaust pipes. wiring loom, rear suspension linkage: so many things. I will take some pictures of it close up, so you can see some off the intricate parts he made on the bike. At present, he has a he has a Bimota Vdue in his workshop that is fuel injected and, if anyone can sort it out and get it running well, it will be him, I'm sure.
Regards Mark |

I am sure I have missed some things but you get the gist of what is on the bike!!!!!
I can't compare the two bikes at the minute in riding style, as I have only been on the Bimota for ten minutes, but what I can say is the Bimota feels a lot bigger and longer than my RS-RG500. The Bimota seems to have a lot of torque for sure, but I think it may need looking at and maybe a set of plugs fitting, as it seems to run very oddly when sat at say 6000rpm on steady throttle. It feels like it is misfiring, but maybe it's just how they are?
