I have decided, well been told Sad , that I need to make some room in the garage, so as I have not really ridden the YB11 for a year I thought I might offer it up here to see if anyone is interested.

Basic bike is a 1996 with about 17500 miles on it.

I will try to remember all the mods done by a previous owner , but may forget a few.

Chassis-
Carbon dymags
AP racing 6 pot calipers and cast disc's
AP adjustable master cylinder
Alloy long range fuel cell.
Full Akrapovic race system not shown in pictures ( added by me)
Forks rebuilt about 18months ago by me.
New hi-power Dyna coils /leads and plugs fitted less than 100 miles ago.

Engine-
1040cc big bore kit
Carillo rods and forged pistons
Race cams
Complete stage 3 head - porting/valves/springs etc.
6 speed gearbox
Lightened and balanced crank etc, blueprinted motor
41mm Keihen flat sides ( overhauled within last 100 miles) and k&n 4 pod filters.

Have bills for about 10k engine work plus about 6k for all the other bits.

Only pictures I currently have on my PC but can get others if anyone interested.

Bodywork has a few scratches and would benefit from a bit of TLC.

Have no real idea on price as the sum of the parts probably out price's the total value.
A one off YB11 so if interested make a serious offer.

.

(and a few corrections/additions by me - 2Bims...as it came from my stable originally)

Carbon Fibre Dymags are period correct 3 spokes
6-speed gearbox is indeed correct, changed out from standard 5-speed for better range
Theres an additional hand made ally bespoke rad added to the bottom of the existing rad to aid cooling
Clutch is a Billet HD assembly
Carillo rods are titanium, naturally
Newish Rear disc and new rear caliper, New Carbon fibre Bimota Rear Hugger and Carbon number plate carrier...Original UK bike from New...so clocks in Miles and not Kms....and the more reliable earlier style cable operated speedo instead of electronic...
Bespoke hand crafted cast and chromed sidestand to get rid of the usual potential Bimota falling over issues
It has the stock Rear seat hump and the pillion pad perch also, owners manual, bucket of frightening receipts.....

Darn thing does 95mph in first gear....can testify to the 200Hp plus dynos.... Shocked Shocked

And even a couple of videos for you Vort...and any prospective buyers.....One with bike running walk around also has the Db2 running at the same time.....Bespoke number plate not on the YB11 anymore...seems it "fell" onto the Db2 apparently.... Laughing

YB11 has the Ohlins rear shock on it...with remote reservoir
(just click on links below for 2 short video clips)

pretty Sure Vort has the Workshop manual for this bike somewhere...albeit his filing system is a little different from mine.... Laughing Wink

It is shall we say ' Interesting ' to ride. Think the front tyre is full of helium or something , because its very light and keeps heading skyward when you open the throttle Very Happy

Where do the pods pull their air from? Is there a void under the front part of the tank?

You can't fault the original owner for dedication to his cause.

Strikes me he could have had most of that power/torque from a standard 6R - and what's more he'd have had a free ticket to the Ugly Bug Ball Laughing

It pulls air from the front fairing below the lights and through the frame rails.

You'd be hard pressed to get 200hp from a Gix1100 engine, without forced induction.

As it came to me it had no fresh air induction, but now has fresh air tubes from fairing holes by the light, through the fame holes, coil position modified so tubes feed under tank and straight into pod void. Not exactly the best but at least it gets cold fresh air to breath now.

Same could be said of the YB11 really.......although I have seen a nice colour combination of SB8R/YB11

Previous owner of this bike...and my DB2....told me a great story re the YB11...was for sale at a Dealers in deepest "Landon"......so he organised a test ride....bike at the time had B1MTA as a number plate...but in small font and in one line like on a car....Blokey went for his test ride and got pulled by the Rozzers for speeding........Said rozzer was doing him for the illegally sized and spaced number plate until biker said..."Nah mate...not my bike...just taking it for a test ride from the dealers shop"....Blokey rode back to shop only to find diligant rozzer had followed him back....so that he could fine the Dealer also.........Blokey almost felt like it was fate he should have the bike...also feeling sorry for the Dealer......He then kept the bike for the next 14 years....with the same plate still on the bike and never once got pulled again........ Laughing

Chuckie, I think you're putting the torque curve against the bhp scale.

Vort, thanks, I can see how you've got some air into it now, but it must have been a swine to jet/needle, with the difference in airflow to the middle cylinders versus the outers.

I think this is a classic example of Bimota producing a bike that works tolerably and leaving the owner to "polish it" as he wants to.

I didn't Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Hey Vort send it in to PB mag, they put this on Facebook

We're nearly running on empty so we're appealing again for you to send in good quality photos of your bikes for possible inclusion in a future issue of PB.
Please mail them to editorial@pbmag.co.uk and can you make sure they're high res and include a brief synopsis of what the bikes all about?
Thanks loads and look forward to seeing what you've got!

You got it Jonny. The bottom curve is hp, the top curve is torque. 140hp for an FZR1000 is pretty good. A stocky has 125hp on the dyno and a very good race motor has 160hp.

If you took the torque curve as hp, you would be going from nothing at 4000rpm to 175hp at 5000rpm. That would be very exciting! But not possible.

I was also wondering about the airflow. The dyno run could be with the tank cover off. The tank is a custom unit. I'd imagine that there would normally be the airbox in front of the carbs as per the YB8. The original builder must have really wanted large fuel range to make a tank like that.

I'd chop off the front part of the tank. Apart from that, great wheels and brakes, great motor, Bimota handling - it should be a top bike.
