All depends on model and year and market it was intended to be sold to....some had larger plaques rivetted on with type approval (US models mostly)...others had smaller plaques with Max Kg loaded weight...cc engine size...Model (DB2, Db4 etc) and then Frame Number...000301...for example....but not a year of manufacture....also the frame number is normally stamped vertically on the headstock right hand side....Perimeter beam ally framed models could have a sticker instead of a plaque...but also stamped on headstock.....Later models Vdue, Db5/6/7/8 etc have a letter of the alphabet for year of production (Vdues) and DB5/6 etc have a year in the middle of the frame number for when at least the frame was produced...and also an R for place of manufacture (Rimini) as well as the model type and frame number...Later Db5/6/7/8 also have a frame number sticker on left hand side footpeg hanger that matches headstock number...and a separate hidden stamped number elsewhere on the bikes that is only revealed when you remove something else....so presumably there to combat stolen bikes etc...in that a removed sticker or ground down headstock number still doesnt remove all trace of original frame number....phew... |
