I'm going to do a track day on my sb6 in 2 weeks time. It'll be my first track day . Been talking about doing a track day for about 20 years but my distance from a track and life in general has got in the way.

I was hoping to take the db4 just because it's lighter and not as powerful, but it's not running right so I've given the sb6 a bit of a birthday and it will see the track soon. I stripped the carbs and gave them a clean and synchronised them. Cleaned and checked the brakes and lashed out on some new rubber.

The front rotors were very loose on the bobbins too so I pulled each one apart and bent the washers into a wave shape, put them all back together and they are good again. Eventually the washers will flatten again and i'll have rattly rotors again I guess, but for now they are good.

I also finally removed the infamous rubber flap over the alternator while I had the tank off. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Scrub the tyres in before the track day. You'll be fine _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

				| Best of Luck Brian, and take it easy...at least to begin with that is.....Look like the latest Dual Compound Michelins you've got there....my favourites at the moment...give progressive lean and feedback, without any "falling over an edge"....prefer them to Pirellis that seem to tramline more ... |

				They're Michelin pilot power 3's. Meant to be slightly more track oriented than road. I'm pretty sure they will out perform me which is what I want _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

				Sounds like fun!

If there is a pro photographer at the track, spend the money, you will NOT regret it. _________________ '98 Bimota SB6R #000016 "Sweet 16"

First track day done and dusted... I had a fantastic time. The sb6 performed floorlessly on the track. Still has the dead spot below 5k but i was rerely below that anyway.

The few sessions in the morning were not good for me as i couldn't get comfortable and couldn't relax (trying too hard i think). The afternoon sessions were fantastic. I relaxed more and something clicked and things were much better. Once i touched my knee the first time i was much more at ease and was soon dragging my knee on a number of corners.

The new Michelins were great and never even felt like letting go. Nice to see some balls of rubber sticking to the edge of the tyres.

There was a professional photographer there and i bought all of the photo's that he got. Unfortunately (for me) all of the photo's were taken in the first few sessions so knee nowhere near the ground but still some nice pics. The pics will be good to look back on for my first track day.

I'll post some pics when i have more time. Good weekend, long trip, 2500 klm's round trip to get to the track _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

good to see Brian...and in the spirit of Goodwell to all men...we'll take your word for it as regards getting your knee down only after the camera man left

I admire your efforts, particularly in taking part given the considerable distance travelled to get there... |

2,500 Km's that's commitment. Our local track is only 45 Km's away and I haven't even managed to get there

Glad you had a good day, and you and the bike came back in one piece. |
