Took a second test shakedown run out on the DB2 after her winter snooze......shaking off the cobwebs and trying out before a short break coming up to the Isle of Man.......meeting up with BimotaNige on his DB2.........Pulled up and flicked the sidestand down..only for it to go all floppy and the spring fell off........Not an issue I thought...but hang on....how do I get back home with a floppy sidestand?? Mananged to hook the spring onto some random hole somewhere...but now had a full time Suicide stand...that wouldnt hold itself in the Open position...
Subsequent investigation showed that many moons ago an alloy plate was fitted to the bracket...repositioning the sping so that it can hold in the Down position...and also in the Up position......But over the last 20 years the spring had pulled through and torn the alloy plate.......
Quick half hour with the hacksaw and I knocked up a new one...and a spare for when it happens in another 20 years.........
Has anyone else got this modification? Just trying to find out if its a Bimota standard...or previous owner modified to rid himself of the nasty auto flick up sidestand??

Hmmm... normally this is made of metal. Previous modification or DB2 is really seriously anorexic bike _________________ Bimota DB7, Bimota DB5 Mille, Ducati 916, Ducati M900, Benelli Tornado Tre |
