I have heard that the speedometer on Bimotas were quite optimistic, your basic interweb wisdom. As I wished to know just how fast I was breaking the law I purchased a device called a Speedohealer with a wiring harness for a Ducati. This thing allows one to calibrate the speedometer as you wish. The Bimota speed sensor has 2 wires and the Speedohealers harness uses 3 wires. After some back and forth with the vendor and maker I became frustrated. On a recent car trip I installed an app on my i-phone that gave speed readouts from the phones GPS. I taped the phone to the clutch reservoir and went for a 20 mile ride. According to the gps the bikes speedo is 1 mph fast, if that!

I imagine that the app was far cheaper and quicker to install also? Well at least your curiosity and suspicion is resolved....and thats probably worth the price....... Laughing Not bad results really.......considering a change of rear tyre in profile or tyre pressures could create more of a margin than your results......

That's rather accurate, I did the same test with a GPS app on my phone and checked my DB4ie speedos. The Sigma cycle speedo I've fitted matched the phone exactly, as you would hope, while the bike speedo reads fast, up to 10% at speed (70mph plus).

10% is within legal tollerance and it's fast so you won't get busted for speeding.
