So the first sightings of snow are upon us...and Jack Frost is out in the mornings, so whats everyone got planned for Winter Maintenance/stripdowns?

First for me is Db2 routine stuff....clutch has been slipping for a while so a New BArnett HD billet clutch pack has turned up...new springs, collats and bolts...new billet clutch pressure plate awaiting delivery....new belts fitted (just 3.5 years this time between changes)...so an ideal time to fit the new carbon fibre belt covers...after a little tweaking with the grinding mini-dremel to get them to fit properly...no cut out on the lower cover for one of the crankcase bolts...

(Note the obligatory Carpet roll for assisting in sliding the one piece fairing off over the front wheel....a must)

CA Cycleworks New HT coils and leads next...and time to measure up for new Brake and clutch lines also....it has been 19 years on Originals so about time methinks.....Oh and a Oberon Clutch Slave to go on also...again the original has lasted 19 years so time to retire it before it retires itself....

Next up will be belts change on DB5R and its first service in my ownership....(Oopss.... Rolling Eyes )

New Carbon Fibre Belly Pan halves also turned up from Greece for fitting to the DB4, nice enough pieces but SHOCKING finish to them...looks like they rattle canned the lacquer on in a sandstorm....so they've gone away for stripping back and professionally relacquering, before fitting

Popped the new Billet anodised vented clutch cover on whilst awaiting the pressure plate...

Do you have the same "distortion" from front header heat on the right side panel at the front near the vents also? Shame it was the only place doing them, kind of limited choice...but my painter is a good un...same guy that did the Duc 900SS paint on tank and seat unit, and engine cases...so hoping he can revive them somewhat to the level of my OCD....and then they'll be good to go...Tis a nice heel guard...cheers.. Wink

Yeah the fit on mine was average. Have to put weight on it to hold it together while bolting. It now keeps popping the rubber mount out of the left side mid fairing mount because of the spring tension of the bellypan. I'll have to put a more substantial mount there to hold it

Hows its popping the mid side fairing mount? What 3 fixings have you got there where it meets the mid plastic fairing? It should be metal clips that fit on the belly pan, and the bolt goes through the plastic fairing and through both sides of the metal clip that is sandwiched over the belly pan, screwing into the back face of the clip?

Are you using rubber well nuts?

I'm hoping for a short Winter as I seem to be running out of Bike related maintenance to do...and heaven forbid I have to turn to decorating or somesuch menial indoor chore... Crying or Very sad

If you go to America...they're cheap...just the import and postage that makes them relatively dear....do plates for other bikes...but plates are billet alloy, supposed to be lighter and stronger than standard...and better resistance to Oil and slipping etc etc if you believe the blurb

Well I concurred with Brian that these pieces being sold on ebay from greece are indeed shocking in their finish, but the only source of replacement Db4 parts I went ahead and purchased, and as said previously, looked like they'd been rattle canned with lacquer in a sandstorm by a one eyed one armed painter that was looking in the other direction whilst being pestered by a swarm of mosquitos...., not really an issue with fibreglass but hardly the purpose of carbon, if you have it you want to see it...

Anyhow, after just one week at the painters they've been cut back, flatted and 3 coats of lacquer and I can now say that I'm happy with them....mirror finish akin to a proper gel coat finish they should have had in the first place..so weekend time is fitting them...

Even found time to heat wrap the back of the panels also....so good to go now...

Before;......

and after:....

It's the round steel mount that mounts to the frame and comes out to meet the fairing. It has a rubber insert in the end that the capscrew srews into. The rubber inserts in mine just look like rubber well nuts and thats the part that keeps popping out. I've put a new well nut in but still pops out. I might just do away with the rubber well nuts and solid mount the mid fairing at that point.
