Just had to ride my sb6 about 20 miles from storage to my new garage. Started first time and away I went... then after about 6 miles she died. Pulled over and checked for fuel, fuel ok. Let ti rest for a minute then applied choke, ticked it over for 10 seconds and she fired up. I manged another 3 miles before having to go thru the same process again. To get home I had to go stop 5 times. So, what do we think? carbs need a service for float bowels sticking or blockage in vacuum system or oilys spark plugs. There will be a price for the right answer! _________________ Pomps

Oh dear, Karma cathing up with you?
Divine retribution for taking the p155 out of my non starter?
Definatly sounds like fuel starvation or blocked jets.
If it was stuck floats, fuel would be p1551ng out of the carbs.
Have you done many miles since the tank was last off, somtimes you can pinch the fuel pipe ehen you put the tank on.
Unlikly to be the vacuum pipe as once the carbs had run dry you wouldent have started it again.
Unlikley to be the fuel gone off as it wouldent start in the first place.
Could be sh1t in the carbs, periodicly blocking the jets.
Was it running ok last time you used it and how long ago was that? |

I ran it 2 or 3 times a week up to 10 days back and never had any probs. The only odd thing was if I filled the fuel tank to the top it would throw out about a pint of fuel through the overflow... maybe a symptom? I'll get the carbs off and serviced over the winter and double check the lines. Cheers mr. J tar. _________________ Pomps

What frame number is your bike,
The early ones had dodgy breather valves on top of the tank.
My first sb6 did. Your breather needs replacing if it let's fuel out.
What's different in the last 10 days? Although, starting it up and riding it are totally different things.
Did you get to the bike show? |

I'll check out the frame number in the morning... missed the bike show, I have had a quick job come in for tomorrow in South Africa for a while so had to prep that. Oh well, had enough time off now, need to get away from the wife _________________ Pomps

Frame number is SB6 * 00978 * Come to think of it, every time I took the fuel cap off to check the fuel it started up easier so breather pipe sounds like the culprit? _________________ Pomps
