Hello folks,

16" W-rated tyres are available from Shinko. There's currently a 130/60 and 160/60 ZR16 W rated available and the front tyre is £76.20 plus £10.23 postage on e-bay (Shinko SR880). Good news for DB1 etc owners!

Cheers, MikeJ

note; I haven't fitted them myself yet so don't blame me if you have a 168 mph speed wobble!

Hi Mike
Bridgestone BT45s also in 16 inch - nice and sticky once you get them warmed up Smile

would have been nice except some genius left the 851 off the type approval sheet !
So it's a no go in Germany.
I'll just have to get on with my 17 inch conversion.

Hi folks,,
Tires 16" with the sizes for our Bimotas are a.o. available from:
Bridgestone (BT45), Pirelli (Sport Demon) & Avon (Roadrider and Azaro-ST).
Here only Avon (Azaro-ST) has a radial tyre (normally an advantage on speed: less distortion and more stability).
Has anyone experiences with comparing these tires?
Mine are Metzelers but very old and as a result: stonelike rubber ...

Wanted to buy the Pirellis but an Italian Bimota owner from Bolzano (SB4S) told me he was more impressed with the Avon Roadrider and when I contacted Avon they told me their Azaro-ST would be a much better tire ....

Like Nigel said: BRidgestone also seems a solid choise (just warm them up carefully).

Couldn't find any relevant reviews or road test in magazins and on the net.

Frank

hi Mike
from what I've read- they are the same tires.
Golden Tyre brought them out first, but are now being sold as Shinkos
Both have the same homologation in Germany.
There were only 300 Ducati 851 stradas made- so how many on the road in Germany now- maybe 20?
so they are not missing much business.
17 inch conversion is on the way- first owner got 17 inch rims added to my log book years ago, with some vintage Pirellis.
But nearly all tyre manufactureres do a type approved 17 inch tyre for the later 851s so that should possible to apply.

nutty stuff : )

I'm glad it's easier for the 16 inch Bimotas. Most of which are just old enough not to have a specific tyre type homologated in Germany.
