Without any weight savings he handling would have to be noticeably better for it to make any rational sense, and that is a bit hard to imagine.
I think i shall stay with my current one, thankyouverymuch!

Dont get me wrong.....I love BMWs.....in fact I happen to own one, and if I could only have one bike, it may well be a BMW ...

However......a BIMOTA is a BIMOTA......and making a BMW powered BIMOTA is a welcome thing IMHO...

Even if the BMW powered BIMOTA is the same weight, or even if it were heavier than the BMW donor bike, Id still take the BIMOTA over a stock BMW.

The BMW powered BIMOTA IMHO would be a refinement on an already brilliant machine. Im sure ( at least I hope ) that BIMOTA would make this bike using its customary mix of billet CNC machines components and will most likely have upgraded suspension, brakes, and intake , exhaust and ECU ( ignition and fueling ) over the stock BMW, and then wrap it all into a beautiful carbon fiber dress with superb Italian exotic design and execution.

I welcome the new BB3......

Although there will be people who think this mad....but Id like even more to see a new BIMOTA using a BMW boxer engine ( instead of, or along with the BMW inline engine).

I think that BMW makes fantastic engines. Their bikes are also great machines. But no one in mass production is making a bike that can compete with the fine attention to detail that only BIMOTA can make .

I would have loved to see a Bimota built around the K100 BMW engine. Although the one that I have with the 2 valve Ducati engine is just fine thankyouverymuch!

I think the thing of it is that manufacturers have got to a standard that's hard to match, let along surpass.
The S1000RR is (by all acounts) one of best sportbikes that can be bought. It's a complete package the engine frame and suspension all work together, and the HP4 is even better.
Problem is I'm not sure Bimota can refine the original bike in performance way that I could exploit. It looks different of course, if anything it's more understated than the S1000RR and it's certainly prettier than the "naked" version BMW are bringing out.

Mainstream manufacturers have caught up and passed Bimota in recent years.

That's why i like the older series bims. They were (and still are) something really special.

Know what you mean Brian...and maybe most on here feel the same...none of that electronic wizardry just the best of the best fitted to a donor engine, but with brakes handling and asthetics improved, and lightended overall mass...none of this abs stuff...assess the road conditions and just dont grab too much brake...no traction control..assess the road conditions and grab less throttle...hardly rocket science...and even when you get it wrong...the bike lets you know and gives you a moment that you cherish in surviving it, hopefully...alas with the modern stuff all the manufacturers may have caught up making it harder to justify the extra cost of a Bimota over the standard bike other than for exclusivity..which was always there...but at least you could justify it for the improved performance, handling and styling...My "old" stuff is still favoured over the modern when I'm in the mood...and the Modern only reaaly used if I'm going some distance...

Yeh basically the BB2...that never went into production...was a stock BMW frame engine etc with Bimota clothes on it as a concept.....now the BB3 is Bimota frame, swingarm and ohlins, brembo brakes etc.

According to reviews of the BB3...which dont sound great...Bimota have used stock BMW ECU and ignition/injection...not a bad thing in itself..and although recent reviews may not be great...re looks...heavier etc etc.......I think that Bimota in the WSB evo series speaks for itself...It cant purely be down to the 2 riders they have that they are constantly beating the Factory BMW evo series bikes.not to mention other Evo series teams from Kawasaki etc...but evidently the straight comparison should be to the BMW..and results have spoken for themselves.......

We all accpet that Bimotas have their foibles.......and some models may be more track orientated than the road........but thats what sells bikes...and many manufacturers clamour to the public in the same way."Must have race bike replica".........

With 2Bims on this one, the BB3 may not look that modern , and even on the WSB grid looks big and talll , something must be right as the results seem to speak for themselves and its beating the BMW bikes !!!!!

Problem is a bike that works well on the track does not always work well on the road or real life, and vis-versa. And also I suppose what test riders say does not always equate to sales figures , look at the Aprillia RSV4 or the KTM RC8 !!!! Not saying they are crap bikes, and testers raved about them at launch but not great sales figures.
Could even put the SB6 in this field, no track success at all but the best sales model Bimota ever produced. Why, looks the Dogs Nuts !!!!
Unfortunatly IMHO BB3 looks like a sports tourer and not a pretty one either.
