Hi, just found this forum and what a god-send....of sorts. I have SB6 #00254. Getting her back on the road for the summer after 3 years watching me ride a 3CL in an attempt to calm down a bit...but turns out I go just as fast but on a wobblier bike.. So its having a rest while I put modern brakes on it...and maybe 996 forks... But back to SB6....I have now learnt, via Oily and this forum, that the battery does NOT live in the airbox.....which is where mine is, via Japan. So will attempt to relocate. In addition what is the latest thinking regarding tires for the wee beastie?
Look forward to visiting here regulary.
cheers
Hamish |

I run SuperCorsas a 120/70 on the front but you need to elongate the mudgard mounting holes a bit. Mine are bought ex-race partworn _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Thanks for posting photo...I have yet to master that skill...under 15000km if I recall...only got 17003 on it now as I mostly use it for short fast blats..anything longer than 2hrs and I can't straighten out esp as I'm far too tall for the bike. |

Welcome, Hammish.
Sweet machine!
Just to inform you....
The old Latin word for Bimota is:
"Bringmoreicus moneyosus"
Enjoy your new rocketship!
...and remember this old saying I just made up:
"Zero to DEAD... in under three seconds"

Welcome Hamish I have a 1200 Laverda series 2 love it, riding fast is interesting and always on the cusp of ,in a minute mate I am going to bite you,
The Bim is more like a big old Hunter style horse, solid in the handling and quick in journey length without feeling you are going too fast.
My son thinks the Laverda especially when it is in company with other bikes looks like Lurch from the Adams Family too long too high too wide and too heavy everything a motorbike should not be but loveable all the same. |

If your battery is in the space where the airbox normally sits, i'm guessing it has pod filters on it? Has it got flatslides or stock CV's. I'm interested to hear how it runs with the pod filters as i toyed with the idea of relocating the battery on mine.
Cheers,

Unfortunately the battery box was molested by someone prior to my purchase of the bike and they put an aluminium partition in the air box and ran the battery from there!!!!! I have now plastic welded the box up again and returned the new Shorai battery up front...the airbox does have 3 large holes in it with coarse mesh over them but nowhere to put a filter so I'm going to micky up some oil/foam and attach to the holes from the back with another layer of mesh...... |

Hmmm, still trying to figure pictures out, I just get the word [img] in the preview...????
But got my wheels back with some new sticky SportMax Dunlops on them...and NO gaarks or scratches on the rims..a new world record for any commercial tyre changing place from my experience. Plus 2 cans of degreaser for cleaning the calipers and swingarm given absence of wheels.
Holy cow I didn't realise how hard my Macadams made in Spain back in 2000 had gotten....would have made for an interesting (short) ride me thinks |
