Decided to take the sb6r out for a short run to mainly to keep the carbs from sooting up. Whilest on a dual carriageway and approaching a set of lights at nearly a ton I decided to brake and go down thru the box but to my horror at first down change I had no control over the lever. Typical Italian bolts was the fault. The Allen nut that connects the lever had decided to rattle itself loose and disappear. Managed to stop ok with brakes and at side of 70 mph road nick the rear brake Allen bolt and get back home. Plus side is the rear brake still worked a touch.
Moral of story check those Italian bolts more regularly and carry the Allen keys. |
