Dear All, I've tried this one before a while back but we have some fresh new blood in the last few months so here goes again.
The only known existence of a Bimota Register, listing frame Nos (well the last 3 digits, and Name of Owner, and location (Country Only needed) is as below
http://www.bimota.ch/register/register_en.html
manuel.nunez@bimota.ch
Email the president of the club as above, a nice man, and he will gladly add your bike to the register, with pictures if you like, and a link to your email address, but again, if you like. No real names have to be given if you wish to remain anonymous, purpose of the list is just to see how many of them are really left out there
Its also a point of reference for library photos, and some owners can be contacted if you are interested in their bikes, maybe they'll sell them, maybe they won't, some advertise their bikes on their
Manuel Takes emails in English so perfect for all the authors on this Forum
You will also see that Giorgio Sarti , the author of the Bible - "25 YEars of Bimota Excellence" is all over the place with his collection of Bimotas, so theres good company to be kept |
How do we remove the listing when the bike is sold on. Even better when its sold ask the new owner to do it ?

I have sent my registration information to Manual (over a week ago) but I have not received a reply or seen it updated on the registry. Has anyone heard from Manual recently? _________________ 1978 Bimota SB2 00046

It took a while for my entry to show up after I sent it in, so I would say do not worry about it! _________________ Spike C.

Manuel was able to update the registry (Thank you Manuel!)
The process did identify another nuance with Bimota's serial number schema. The "W" prefix of the serial number of my SB2 (W20089) supposedly indicates that it was for export outside of the EU (1 of the 10 export bikes per Sarti). It had been previously thought that the remaining portion of the SB2 serial number was in the sequence of manufacturing (89th out of the 140 bikes produced per Sarti). However there is already a serial number 89 in the registry.
Manuel is going to do some more research on the SB2's, as he thought this schema (re-using serial numbers for different countries) was limited only to the Tesi.
Another Bimota mystery to solve! _________________ 1978 Bimota SB2 00046

A recent discussion on Bimota micapeak has revealed that in the USA, number s were allocated specifically for that country, per model and per year for bikes such as the DB2, DB3 and SB6....meaning theres say 3 No. 1 issue DB2's, DB3's and SB6's...I put it down to clever marketting in the USA...making you biys feel special to have Number one of XXX....even though Europe already has No. 1...and then the next year you can buy Number 1 again of the same bike etc etc.....Whichever.....they are all pretty special and very limited regardless of where they are in the world....Perspective..at the peak....Hnda made 5million bikes in one year...Ducati 200,000...and Bimota...never more than 500 in a year..........Hardly need to be limited when so few made... |
