No not just me coming back to the Forum, as this post covers that....but Santa says I've been a very good boy this year, collection due on Wednesday, as long as there isn't snow on the Alps that is, in which case there'll be an ebay frenzy of broken Bimota parts up for grabs............Have to wait a week though folks for updates as I'm out of the country on leave.........

Best wishes for all in the forthcoming Crimbo and festive season, back on Boxing Day for more updates, piccies etc, or just a link to parts for sale on ebay........... Laughing

Cheers Brian, missed you also, been a busy boy, but have time off over Crimbo, so will update folk, with "Pup" 900SS resto, other Bimota that came a few months ago as well as latest that is on its way.

Clues? well one prominant member on here surprisingly once admitted that they'd have one of this particular model as a door stop, if they really had to.
Seconf clue for followers of the Forum , is that "montys" protection has been downgraded from Full Alert to a passing check from time to time, and his blood pressure tablets have been reduced to just 1mg per day Laughing

Well, whilst I was away on holiday last week, it was collected from Italy, and has now landed in the UK, paperwork etc received, but lull between Crimbo and New Year means home delivery not until next week, so will satisfy with pictures for now, well at least for myself that is.. Laughing

Evidently its kinda based upon a theme of mine, but hey ho, each to their own , its a free world (well parts of it are)

Cheers Guys, and am looking forward to its arrival next week as its made it to the UK, but holidays/New Year mean its not coming until next Wednesday/Thursday, can't wait but have already picked up a few essentials for it. It was missing the 4mm Bimota Hex key for the glove box in the rear Hump, and Armin of DRT Schneider has helped to source these, and also a NOS DB1 OWners Manual, which is nice, a jolly decent fellow.

How many in the UK? Well there were over 650 made of the 3 models, DB1, DB1S and SR (Badged RS), and I heard that of the original 453 DB1's that were first made and sold, that over 80% were sold in Japan, gulp, which left not a lot for the rest of the World.

The Bimota Register of 2000 and the one of "now" shows no DB1's of any mark/model in the UK, but evidently theres this one now, yours Mike, and I know of 2 others in the UK also, both that are around the North of England.

Clicking back to the Bimota Enthusiasts Contacts list there was just one sole person in the UK at the time listed as having a DB1 as well as several other Bimotas also, but he was anonymous, so quite a rare beast indeed.

Thus if I ever "bin" mine or need spares, perhaps Monty best keep his disguise on Wink

This particular DB1 was first registered brand new in the UK in 1986, as I have the old V5 as part of the documentation, together with old MOT's and service/parts receipts.

A few more pictures for your viewing pleasure....

And Even a "naked" one for Sunday Morning....

Word is they were made by Bimota themselves, each spoke is stamped as such, pressed in 2 halves from ally, then bonded and rivetted for rider confidence. Evidently now "unobtainium" Future plans may be to source some Mavic five spoke 17inchers to replace the 16inchers that are on it now, as I'm hearing that tyre choice is not only very limited but also expensive Crying or Very sad Would like to change the front end also with USD and gold series 4 pots, marchesini 3 spokes can be made to fit also, but time will tell and I'll have to see....

Very nice indeed, just a shame that it appears to be a decorative piece sitting in a lounge, and stock also other than a few stickers, each to their own, but for me bikes are to be ridden, shared and enjoyed by as many as can be, and thats my intention. GeeKay is already booked in for first ride also, ordely queues please Laughing
