... Cool
Well, there's a bonus....I was just about to look into a batch of Ti wheel spindles and as I was trial fitting the shiny new Dymags onto this project...guess what?
...it already has a pair of Titanium spindles...Result Laughing .....

...powder coating should be finished this week, engine will be out and an engine will possibly be back in. Looking forward to getting this super light weight SB6 back together....

Still waiting for the log book Steve!!!!!!
Steve, are you out there Steve?

....time to trial fit the new Dymag in the front forks........bloody quick release forks. Bolts too short by a couple of threads, burs all over the castings, rusty fittings.......All from new Rolling Eyes
None of the burs were ever cleaned off the castings at the factory so 5 minuets with a couple of needle files and everything slides about just fine.
Bigger problem with the bolts....instead of just swinging out of the way when you loosen them, they are two or threads too short so drop out and the wheel skins your knuckles. Easy fix you think...longer bolt?...no, the threaded hole is blind and not deep enough so my solution is to get rid of even more of the casting.........

...just as easy to do it with a file but I was using the miller anyway. Just leave two or three mm to hold the bolt head. longer bolts not needed any-more. Wink

...Rusty fittings next...to complement the titanium wheel spindle I turned up some nice shiny titanium fittings with SS bolts because I can't afford Ti bolts Crying or Very sad ...

...new on the right, old on the left...new weigh 71g, old weigh 113g. That should save me loads on fuel Laughing
with all that done, in with the new wheel....

...yep, that fits. now to pull it all apart again Wink
Cool

Hi Oily. I got a pair made awhile ago. The front wheel came with the wrong fitting. They were kind enough to mske another one at no cost. If you are speaking to Larry at pdq you could ask him about that. I had the antera wheels but I think I got the square h front wheel replacement the first time. Anyway they look great. All the best.

Got any pictures of them on the bike bob?

Means I have a pair of new 7 spoke dymags to stick on something else Laughing

P.S.
Dymag direct are having a summer sale on carbon wheels as you probably know and it wasn't difficult to secure quite a discount off the sale price Wink

Yes bob, two different fittings for the front wheel on the SB6.....
Mk1 and mk11
The rear fitting is the same for both except you have the option of 5.5 or 6" width. Stick to the 5.5 children no matter how much your tempted as the six slots in with 0.00001 clearance (fag paper) Laughing

Now I've got space in the garage (Thanks Pomps), thought I'd have a look at the low mileage (4000) that's destined for the big bore treatment and then be dropped in to this project Shocked

....Sort out the front sprocket for starters...

...It's a 532 that's being changed for the more common, cheaper 530 Wink

As you all know, they are a bugger to change but my secret weapon will sort the nut out......

...that's the 10mm locking bolt.....

...and that's the 32mm stubborn nut. Both off much quicker than typing this. New Renthal 530 sprocket ordered.

...The GSXR sprocket cover and the Bimota (in this case oily) modified cover which went off to be powder coated....

...check out the low mileage slave cylinder. All good there so we'll reassemble and use this one...

...Bit of a clean up and make some long stainless bolts and that'll do for now...

...still got to slot the cam sprockets and then I'll be spending the day sticking the big bore kit on and we'll get this build under way in earnest
Laughing

A wet bank holiday afternoon.........
Thought I would make a few preparations in readiness for the big bore build but as usual got carried away Rolling Eyes

...Fitted the new renthal sprocket so decided to check the clutch ....

...Glad i bought a 50mm socket for the previous big bore...

...Put in new clutch springs as a matter of course...

...this is where i got carried away...off with the head and barrels...

...and pistons. Good start, only got to build it back up now

...next session, freshly bored barrels, big pistons, new gaskets, check valve clearances, dial in the cams and we're ready to build a bike
Wink

Cool

Here we go.....
bit tricky getting the rings on these buggers but we love a challenge Laughing ...

...All on, works of art waiting to be buttoned up, never to be seen again (hopefully not too soon)......

...pots on....

...all new gaskets used of course...

...head on, torqued down....

...cams sorted. Fitted and degreed. All buttoned up waiting for the Bimota side of things to get going (any day now) Laughing

...next session will be pulling what's left of the bike apart and starting building it up around this motor Wink
