There's a question that will quite likely split the Bimota populace down the middle.....
.....I quite like carbon fibre and I've gotten quite bored with Bimota's top yoke sooooooo.......
Whilst I should be using my very precious time to do very important things, I got way laid and decided to fiddle about with a bit of carbon............
....too much?
In 10 years time will it look as naff as the Muntra's wooden dash?

Ooooer, very tasteful Oily! Still I suppose you should expect O.T.T. from an SB6 owner
by the way, how did you manage to cut the c.f. into discs like that?
Cheers, MikeJ |

Wow,I'd want a sharper tool in the mill. I'd be very disappointed with that finish dinger
good photo though
This particular SB6 has been stripped of everything possible for the track so adding half a feather in weight ain't no thang
Saying that, the carbon is held on with a few dabs of grease for the picture.
The grease is probably heavier than the carbon _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

I read somewhere that Bimota always put a 'glitch' in their milling programmes to make it look handmade- any excuse I suppose, but the blunt tooling is taking it a bit far. _________________ Bimota DB2 tricolore, Bimota YB4e.i, Ducati 851 tricolore, Ducati Hailwood Replica, 1968 Gitan Grillo sport, Yamaha GTS1000, Honda Deauville, Honda GB500 Clubman

Yes but it is all handmade Ian
Dinger, your comment has bugged me so, if I weigh the carbon and machine double that amount off the yoke would it make it to the cool wall?

Do you remember when people put stickers of their names on the front windscreen? When they put those long rubber anti static things hanging off the bumper on the back? Still having red noses on the front of the car 20 years on, go faster stripes from Halfords, mirror dice, spinner hub caps, etc etc.
Anyway, if it doesn't actually do a job then its in the naff section for me ... _________________ Pomps

MMmmmmmm OK - I'll go with that, then it would make the cool wall.
But you will need to mill out enough to make the carbon a structural necessity, otherwise it would still be lighter without the carbon
And I would like to personally weigh the filings _________________ Now - SB6R, GSX1400, KTM 990 SuperDuke

I think you've lost your way somewhere there Oily, top yoke is only becoming boring because you have so many of them
I do like your attention to detail in "mirroring the pattern" but seriously if you made those to fit Ducati's 'dem Duc nuts would pay 40squid a pop for such "individuality" and everytime you sold one of the hundreds you could secretly laugh at them, serious, get them on Ebay |

Er......actually reducing the structural integrity of the yolk so the carbon becomes a necessary structural part _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)
