Hi, I am in the final stages of completing my HB1 replica project. Bodywork is in the paintshop, and I need the seat upholstered now. I was opting for red suede (leather) or Alcantara to match the original looks, but my upholstery complained that they have no material available which is flexible enough in both directions (HB1 seat has this U-shaped outside portion with a separate mid section).
Who knows what kind of material BIMOTA used for these seats back then? Was it real leather or synthetic?

Have a close look at some HB1. The seat cover is made up of a few pieces. A good upholsterer will be able to make it no matter the material.
