Yes Vince, we've been aware of that one for a while now and while I'm loving the colour scheme and are having frame protectors made that would cover the frame damage.........too expensive for a damaged bike with a crap injection system

4500 euros for the bike which i was happy about, 1700pounds for shipping that i wasnt happy about. I know its about 800pounds to ship the bike here from London so where is the other 900 going?

In the meantime a local shop brought in 2 SB6Rs and a SB6, the Rs both sold in three days and the 6 is almost sold now. I told the guy i was looking at importing a 7 myself when he turns around and tells me he has got one in Japan and if i want it he will hold it for me. The bike is $8500 as is or $11000 going, i paid a $500 deposit to get me the bike just to have the guy tell me Japan has changed its mind and now wants double for it, so at this stage its a wait and see game.

Does sound a lot for freight! Shame about the Japan connection mate, maybe they'll negotiate?

Makes me wonder if oily has a holiday house in NZ with all those sb6's over there Laughing

Good luck with your search, i've never seen an sb7 for sale in Australia.

The motorcycle shop guy says that he buys a lot of bikes through his Japan agent so is 99% confident that the price of the bike will stay the same as quoted. Again its a wait and see game.

One of the SB6Rs had only 450kms on the clock and was sold for $10500 which is a bargain, the guy who brought it apparently has three other Bimotas so hes adding to his collection. The other 6R had crash damage and is being turned into a race bike. The 6 is selling for $9500 which i think is a good price, its had a re-spray but is in a very good overall condition.

The shop was weary about importing Bimotas but that was only because they imported a hound of a DB2 that nobody wanted and they took a loss selling it. After this last batch i think they will be importing more of them.

I think they are pretty good prices for bimotas in this part of the world. Bims are few and far between for sale in Aus. sb6's seem to go for between 16k and 20k.

I would agree on the prices being good over here, ive seen some Bimotas for sale in Australia and have thought the prices were on the high side. These bikes here were priced to sell and not hang around on the shop floor for months, they were even complied and registered for the road, it makes me wonder what they must have paid for them in Japan to get them here and road ready and still make a profit.

Yeah they must have got them cheap! I did my part in keeping the value of bimotas high, I paid 16k for my sb6 unregistered Shocked . It's in really good condition though and only had 4200 k's on the clock.

Two years after starting this post there is now a SB7 residing in my garage. Its a Japanese import with 1200km on the clock. I picked it up yesterday after taking it for a test ride to make sure all is well. Its a very clean purple/red/white bike that looks like it hadn't spent much of its life outside. Im very very happy with the purchase.

After riding the bike last summer and then parking it up in the lounge over winter i am now experiencing the joys of a parked up bike, ive kept it on a battery tender but forgot about the fact it had a plastic tank and when I first tried to start her the smell of stale fuel was unmistakable, i opened the tank and sure enough the fuel didn't smell right, i also saw little black flakes of something in the fuel, so the tank came of and the pump removed with a thorough clean of the inside of the tank, not sure what the little black bits were as all the seals seem intact.

Oil change was next, i always looked at the plastics and dreaded removal but found it not as bad as i thought it would be. What i couldn't believe was the oil filler cap, why not just leave a normal one on and not one with an allen head, for the life of me i cant find a key that will fit the angle/space to open it.

Might as well do a coolant change as well which was by far the easiest thing to do right up until i backed the bike up and ran over the radiator cap, sure enough it was bent and unuseable.

Anyway enough griping, the bike even with no clothes on is a piece of art and i cant wait to get it sorted and do some more riding.

I realise photos are appreciated but my computer skills are lacking.

My sb6 has the same oil filler 'bung'. I've managed to get it out and change the oil with much difficulty. I've since heard of people leaving the filler bung in and simply pouring the oil down the beat her pipe and having no issues. I'm more than happy to post pics for you if you struggle.

That'll be the breather pipe Brian.....does the SB6 and Sb7 not have a diaphragm flap part at the base of the breather pipe where its mounted on the crankcase? DB2/Ducati engines do....and this also unscrews leaving a nice big hole....might be an easy way to top up oil on the DB2 also as really the fairing has to come off to get to it.......Do allen key "chuck" drive keys not get into the oil filler cap? then use a spanner on the chuck key?

You can get the bung out with a mini flex head ratchet and allen key it's tricky because the frame rail comes right across it. You can fill the oil up using a rubber hose and funnel.
The crank case breather doesn't have a membrane mine has a join in the pipe so pull it apart stick a funnel in the breather hose and fill it up. Allow the oil time to drain to the sump before starting or it will puke oil on you ....
