Hello, i'm new to this forum and I have a question; I have lusted after a Bimota for over 30 years! I am going to have a look at a YB9SR. It's imported from Japan and looks to be in great condition(you never really know until you see it!) So, my question is; As it's from Japan, has the engine been restricted in any way? Are there any other issues I need to be aware of??
Any guidance very welcome. Thanks in advance. Paul. _________________ Corny |

It wont be restricted AFAIK.Most important thing is it UK registered and if no it is ther proof that import duties and VAT paid.. If not you may get a surprise when you go to register it.
Other than that I would suggest going for a look and post up any photos and queries you have afterwards. Main thing with any Bimota is any damaged or missing parts can be difficult and/or expensive to source. YB9s are one of the more common ones out there (at least on the continent) so another one will generally show up if this one doesn’t pan out (but of course for EU purchases you need to factor in transport, duty and VAT unfortunately!)
Good luck! _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

Thanks for the advice. Its UK registered and complete - no bits missing and under 5k miles. It's the carburettor version so the fuelling is better than the injected version, I think... It looks to have been well looked after but I will report back when I have seen it in the flesh. Thanks again! _________________ Corny |

I second all that WelshLamb says.....So...just one question...Is it in "sheepdip" yellow...the most common...Red..less common...or the very rare Sheepdip "blue?...Lovely bikes and a steal for the price they normally sell for |

Its the red one - looks fantastic! However, appears to be sold, gutted... So, back to the drawing board I guess. YB9's look like the sensible way of easing myself into the world of Bimota, I really had my heart set on one as Tesis are a little out of my league! _________________ Corny |

I concur with what the lads sayI have an sri version and it has been great all the time, now over 50,000kms.
Some of the sri models have had difficult to sort injection issues so maybe keep looking for an sr model, any colour will do!
They are a great little bike and handle and drive like a dream, a much underated gem.
And welcome to the forum! |
