I tried starting my hypermotard that had been sitting for a while and noticed the yuasa battery was leaking and dripped on the painted swingarm. I quickly removed the battery and wiped down the area with water and baking soda to neutralize the acid. The acid did not eat through the paint, but left light drip marks in the paint. Any ideas on how to remove the stains in the paint? They are faint, but there. I should have kept the battery on a tender, but I didn’t. I ordered a lithium battery from Antigravity. I used a magic eraser pad and some cleaner and it helped a little. Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe try with some cut and polish? Be careful not to cut right through the paint though

Thanks Brian for the input. I’m a little hesitant to do the cutting paste, but it probably is my only option rather than a respray. I also noticed I now have a small hole in my fuel tank where the battery acid leaked. The fuel is weeping thru. Since it is made from nylon, I can plastic weld it.
