Have added a second Bimota to the garage.
2000 SB8R

Has been sitting for a couple of year so at the very least it will need a major service and going over.

Anything specific to the model that I should look at or for while going over things?

Plan to put a new battery in it, change the oil and install new plugs first.
Air filter needs to be replaced.

I did notice something that I thought was odd.
When I took the tank off of the bike I removed the banjo bolt fuel line at the back of the tank. No fuel came out, even though there is fuel in the tank.

Would have expected it to pour out. I just fear tank desegregation.

I'm guessing it has an internal fuel pump... maybe the fuel won't gravity feed through the pump?

My importer has brought in five SB8's from Japan and three of them came in with no fuel pumps, no idea why they were removed. I was told this before my one landed so when i saw it for the first time i checked to see if the fuel pump was there.

Can't help with the problem as i just gave the bike to the local mechanics and said get it going and a full service. My bike came fitted with a fuel trimmer which helps with the injection but it still isn't perfect.

I would recommend when fitting the battery attach tender cables as it is in an awkward place to get to.

Seems that the fuel pump is not working.

I get power to the plug, but the pump is not spinning. Took it out and have it soaking. Maybe I get lucky.

Can just the pump be replaced or rebuilt?
