Today, I picked up #986. According to the sticker that was on the frame, she was originally Red & Black. Those of you that have visited Centrepoint have probably seen her, a forlorn looking thing, no front end, no bodywork or tank, lined up next to a YB8 in similar condition... last week I did a deal with the boss at centrepoint, and #986 gained the front end, fairing and tank from #1104 (Charcoal and Red, rhs rashed frame, 2,077km ex Japan), and the seat unit that had been in stock at centrepoint for years... And now she's all mine.
She's pretty shabby, but I can't stop looking at it.
(note, while the tank, airbox and exhaust aren't fitted in that pic, I do have them. Seats and number plate holder, not so much. Headlights are on their way from Japan.)

Congrats on the new SB6 Ben. Looks like it still has the original Antera valve caps too. After you mentioned that, I went and had a look - the front, being 2000km old, has the Antera cap. The rear is some kind of aluminium cap with N2 engraved in it - guess they ran nitrogen fills. I'm going to see if I can grab the rear Antera valve cap from the #1104. |

Apparently ‘Antera’ is a dirty word around here mate so be careful. Nobody seems to like them because they weigh about 9000 kgs. I think they look nice and I’ve had (and still have) bikes with heavier wheels. I can’t justify the extra thousands of $$ for a set of light wheels that are yet going to make much difference the way I ride my road bikes anyw. I think the Antera valve caps are a nice touch _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

I think they add to the rarity and originality of the bike as well. I’ve never seen Antera valve caps for sale, I was looking for a set for my DB4 for years but gave up as I could never find them. I ended up finding a set at Centrepoint Wholesale for $3k and they threw in most of a DB4 with them

Yeah, I was keen on slotting lighter wheels on it, but now that I've got it, the Anteras are growing on me looks wise... in fact, apart from airbox tweaks, building a seat, and the usual getting it sorted stuff, I think the only modification of note I'll do is build a new rear half for the exhaust with a single can. |
