One of my favorite "modern" Bimota bikes...

I wasn't always that keen on them....think it was the Ducati 749 headlight/Alien face set-up...but over time it has grown on me...….Dont know why he's calling it an "R" as they never made such a model......has the "r" in the frame number signifying it was made in Italy...but thats about it....seems to have a "rogue" bolt on gear change lever and ball end on the left side...possibly from falling off its sidestand??...Normally a cranked end.....with gear shaft rod and gear change lever fitted to the footpeg assembly....so not too sure whats happened there....Also a slightly dodgy looking home made exhaust hanger which IMHO...is not an improvement on the original.....

Price? Cheaper than when it was new....but not as cheap as they can be found for in Europe...

2bims, you have a great eye mate! I inquired about this bike which is for sale physically in Boca Raton, FL... not Tampa.

The owners swear the bike is OEM, and not only have I seen it in person, I have sat on it. They’re insistent it is an “R” model, when we know there was no such DB7 manufactured.

FWIW, the bike will need approximately $5k to bring it back to OEM specs because of everything you scoped out + new tread as the original Conti’s from 2009 are still on the bike. Crying or Very sad

Bring back to OEM spec?.....Not with the company still effectively not producing.....Small parts like footpegs, gear levers, shift rods and connecting pieces are all sadly no more available.....BimotaClassicParts had like 3 pegs and levers presumably purloined from the factory when it was emptied and handed back to the owners......The only route now is hand made specials or Moto Corse items.....

2bims,

Luckily for us on this side of the pond, we have Bob @Bimota Spirit, who has all parts needed to make this beauty whole again.

Cheers!

Hey Bud, if you recall when we met-up, I mentioned this bike to you and how the seller essentially wanted what I would’ve paid had the bike not been a hack version. It is hard to trust someone when they insist the bike is OEM, especially when it is a DB7, and has strange non-OEM bits on the bike, while claiming it came out of the crate that way when they owned a Bimota dealership, sold it to a guy, who then got divorced, and sold it back to them.

Being I’ve seen the bike in person, I’m certain the ex tipped this beauty over in the owners garage, and he had someone, or he installed all of the non-Bimota parts to get her operational. Then unloaded the bike, so the ex couldn’t stake claim.

If the current owner comes down to the price point which works for me, then I’ll have 3 lovely Bim’s... just need a Santa & Tesi 3 to complete my collection. 🤩

I do remember you mentioning it, and the fact it was suspicious to say the least , but its the fact you looked into the parts to get it back to 100%!! and they are a fantastic bike !!
I like many was not a great fan at first , styling was OK , but not jaw dropping great, but in the flesh they are SO much better than the pictures and they are just infectious to ride Laughing

Santa and Tesi 3 , man of taste !!.

Which Tesi ? single

or double seat ?

Would that offer extend to me as well? Question If you recall, attending TT is a bucket list item, while I'm not keen on either shipping a bike from the US, or purchasing one local, to then try and sell? While I'd prefer to ride TT on the Desmo or RR312, riding a DB7 or Santa would definitely provide a life-long "schwing" moment for sure!!!

I'm sure we could come to some sort of arrangement

Have to say I value some bikes more than others , Santa is defo in the top few , Tesi not so high up the list.
